LC has been a head scratcher since the P&A announcement. Then followed a welcomed time reprieve from the OGA after negotiations and now yesterday's seemingly contradictory snippets further thickening the mist.
Hopefully this all will be explained in the next RNS issued by Hurricane.
Stanley, thanks. good stuff.

" And it seems utterly mad."
I too agree with that.
Hi Yobbo,
From an article earlier this year:
“ The JV is,
therefore, seeking a field determination at Lincoln to progress towards field
development incorporating a single well tie back to the Aoka Mizu of either the
Lincoln Crestal well or an alternative shallower producer.
Based on
existing consents, the Lincoln Crestal well is planned to be plugged and
abandoned later this year. The suspension consent, which sets the deadline for
this activity, has been extended from 22 June 2020 to 30 September 2020 due to
the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This extension
also allows Hurricane to gather additional long-term pressure data, expected to
provide further insight into the dynamic behaviour of the Lincoln reservoir.
The Transocean Paul B. Loyd Jr. semi-submersible rig, which is still under contract with Hurricane, is currently stationed in the Cromarty Firth and is expected to carry out this activity, but it is noteworthy that the JV is looking into alternative rig options.”
Can someone help me here. If they were going to P&A, why would they be over the well now reading the gauges ? Assuming that is what they are doing.
ADUK,
We both made an initial assessment regarding the application for Lincoln to presume this was for P&A. I believe this to still be true, however not a guaranteed outcome.
Please confirm I understand the sequence of events correctly:
8th June: Lincoln application for Well Intervention.
8th June: Trice “resigns”.
16th June: Edison report (I’m presuming compiled with direct input from HUR) suggests P&A not necessarily required if Field Determination from OAG is positive.
So uncovering the application moves us no further forward in our investigations. P&A possible, but OAG can still save the day.
To quote Edison: “ A response from the OGA for approval of field determination over the Lincoln structural closure is expected by the end of June 2020. If approved, and subject to further consents, it may not be necessary to P&A Lincoln Crestal, which could then be tied-back as a producer to the Aoka Mizu.”
So it’s still a waiting game, right?
C,Eng,
I won't quote your post because some people here have recently objected to me cut / paste comments. Though I've always thought it as being a good way to maintain a sort of continuity within a 'thread'.
So without quote, yes, I agree with you.
Or no. Dammit, I'm going to break that rule.
"date suggests P&A of Lincoln I feel "
'Fraid I agree with you. And it seems utterly mad.
The OGA definition for Well intervention is "The re-entry of an existing well for the purpose of maintenance, workover, re- completion, suspension or abandonment operations.".
Take you pick, but date suggests P&A of Lincoln I feel :-(
I took it to be a possible positive. One that HUR is complying with the licence conditions and the extension given to the timeline for P&A. Secondly if the extent of the field determination goes in the company’s favour the permits will be in place to carry out a different type of operation?Probably wrong I often am.

Submitted June 8th.
Now that was quite a day I seem to remember.
MissMullins, Missdosh,
Thanks for the pertinent info.
I think some interesting points might be drawn from the permit applications.
-1 They are the first recent ones for anything regarding 'our' interests. Which I think implies that 'we' aren't going to be doing anything rig-involved before next year.
-2 I have a nasty feeling that the permit being out under 'intervention' on Lincoln means P&A, even if it's mad.
-3 No permits have been applied for regarding a workover on Lancaster 7z. Which is a tiny bit of good news.
This looks like a P&A then, and not the tie-back we were hoping for.
Unless I’m interpreting it wrong. Hopefully someone can see this as a positive application....?
