@DBD, thanks for taking the time to provide those links :)
Its all learning for me..
I wonder if there are limitations, certain frequencies would struggle to penetrate the casing
Since DM suggested cutting the casing then may be they don't have the gear for that.
I would guess if they were to cut the casing, they would test the lower zones first just in case debris blocked lower down so we could have those results first?
Its going to be interesting to see what pans out
They tweeted Monday they were still drilling so unless something has gone wrong since then, just assume we’re fine and wait.

Dai
You can do both openhole and cased hole logging with wireline.

Their website is very informative on most services available in E&P.
SeaHawk I know what you mean, in a way I would imagine they would but I don't have any experience with oil and gas drilling so I can't say that it's what's always done. Personally, I think they've reached TD and are preparing to wireline now and then going to combine it all in to one big RNS on Monday
FOMO Friday never had such a ring to it...
By my estimate, at an average of 25mpd we would be around 1050m. At 30mpd we would have reached TD an starting to run tests. I will need to look out some Gas Explorer RNS' to see if there is any info on how long these take to do any how long before results are made known. It would be different for oil so need to remove some keywords in the search.
If we were to do a wireline test of the 400m zone (or part of it), they send down a tool to blast holes in the casing first. Then send down the wireline tool.
Prae if they have reached TD they really should be informing us. All the other drills I have been involved with have informed their investors when TD has been reached as its a major milestone.
@Bluebay
I am not sure they could wire-line the whole hole now, especially the cased portion. DM mentioned if they wanted to test the 400M zone they would need to cut the casing. I would expect wire-line testing would prove the integrity of the casing, rather than the strata the other side of the metal/cement barrier which I would guess would impede most instruments/signals attempting to cross that barrier. But I dont really know what can or cannot be done.
Once the exploration well has been completed it will be capped, and capped to allow re-entry if needed.
The appraisal well will be a new hole..
The primary target depth is still around 1100m
At 70m DM said there was just over 1000m to go, suggesting 1100m and max depth is said to be about 1200m.
The Seismic section shows the primary target to be below 1100ms, reaching 1300ms
Using 1100x1.9x0.5, estimating the signal speed, and distance traveled you get a depth of 1045m to the crest
then 1300-1100=200ms gives the estimated thickness of the target zone
200x1.9x0.5 gives another 190m...
Its not accurate, as the signal travels different speeds through different strata
But its an estimate, which is line with DMs comments.
There is more than one way to skin a cat, so really its just a bit of fun putting together posters info, and we will find out soon
They should have already reached TD. We don't know exactly what's going on; the drilling speed, whether the plan has changed and they're going deeper etc but I'm very hopeful of an RNS on Monday. Something serious either another issue (which would have to be announced) or something really positive would create a further delay. I would hope that at the minute they're starting to run the wireline and process the data over the weekend. Looking like it'll be an incredible discovery but we'll just have to wait and see. I think the tweet earlier this week pointed to no RNS this week unfortunately
Screenlearner it is extremely rare that somebody is not in the know. Does not matter how tight a ship you run somebody will hint something to a friend who will take advantage. Whilst there are big buys coming through all should be good, if we see a flurry of large sells at the end of a day its time to worry about what's coming the following morning.
SeaHawk, I agree but I was trying to cut them a little slack. Different topic , I also was wondering whether the series of biggish individual share transactions meant something. Whilst it could be a leak of information it may be an ii (or someone with a lot deeper pockets than me) buying in?
Does concern me a bit.
At the start DM couldn't get enough of the interviewer in London.
I must admit I don't blame him.
I just hope news is soon and it is good.
Screenlearner if they have had another problem then they should inform us by RNS quite quickly (days at most) they are currently pushing there luck in not informing us why it is taking so long. Overruns in drills do not come for free. Whilst the company are still putting out tweets showing the drill rig working we can only hope all is well, because they will look extremely stupid if its not and will be in hot water.
I am content to await news until we get it...but.... the 'drilling starting gun' RNS was 14 June and it said 'circa a month' per hole. Everyone will have noticed the drill loss RNS and added on a couple of weeks. So I think we will get news pretty soon... either the results from the drill hole... OR an RNS explaining a delay has occured. If a 'significant' delay (other than the known delay from the update RNS) has occurred my view would be that they are obliged to tell the market. A few extra days /a week or 10 days maybe (from now) is probably niether here nor there, but much longer would require an RNS I think. Happy to hear contrary views!
Oh, you are back, Iceman. Out of curiosity, did you sell your MSMN to buy back in? ;0)
Isn't it just impossible to 'calculate' without onsite knowledge of what they're encountering along the way, whether 1200 is still the target depth, whether they're going to wire line the whole thing in one go, whether they can re-drill this one for appraisal, etc?
By Friday they should be circa 1100/1050 by my calculations ...so news anytime!!
