I forgot to mention. Paypal has its own problems. eBay is dropping Paypal as their main payment provider. They will still have Paypal as a payment option.
Half the trades in bitcoin are made by criminals, as tracked by the FBI. On 6th January 2021 the Financial Conduct Authority's first ban comes into effect in the UK, making the selling of Exchange Traded Notes, an investment product that tracks the price of cryptocurrencies, a criminal offence. Stick to gold.
I used to be covered by raoul many years ago. Nice bloke. Good for a beer. Wouldn’t invest any money with him though. Which is just as well as I can’t stand Bitcoin.

Like I said we are living in very interesting times
That's partly due to PayPal saying they will start to accept crypto payments soon.
Gold down and Bitcoin UP

Thanks all for your input although that link from Atkinsons is no longer available. Have you all been rushing out to buy!? Ta
Archways hi, I am not so sure about that, although while I do understand that there are some rather more draconian obligations imposed on an executor nowadays, gold coins are rather easily transferred, by way of an "inter vivos" gift for example and would not neccearily be known to an executor anyway
GPSRF at 9.10 - having read your link it looks to me as though Sovereigns and Britannias are not free from Inheritance Tax but because ownership is not registered one can avoid the tax by not disclosing their existence. The last time I was an Executor and applied for Probate I was required to swear on the Bible that I had made a full disclosure of the assets of the deceased, so I would have thought that most Executors would not be prepared to evade Inheritance Tax in this way. Is my understanding of the situation correct?
Not CGT or potentially IHT free, but would certainly be harder to lose down the back of the sofa!

GPSRF hi,
Thanks again and I will have a more detailed look into.
Cheers an good luck,
Tom :-))))))
TomE,
That is a really good deal for 100 separate 1 oz coins and excellently divisible for when gold hits $10,000+ per oz.
Did a quick calculation buying in $ with present exchange rate and very similar costing. Obviously a weaker $ benefits greatly, which we may well see even more favourable by mid 2021.
There are other ways to hold 100 oz though. Worth researching. As the smaller the individual size units the higher the price mark up and spread.

Hi Badger. Best to reinvest your NSandI savings sooner rather than latter. Inflation is a real problem, gov figs are wrong. compare what your yearly overheads are this year to last year. Saving in cash @1% is losing you money and gold is up 28% in the last year. Gold Britannias/Sovreigns are by far the best in hand investment for UK tax payers. When buying watch out for the premium a 4% above spot is acceptable. That offer from Atkinsons is good with a premium of about 3.5%. Please use insured vault storage. The opportunity to buy gold below £1550 is closing fast. ATB Speedy
Thanks GPRSF - very interesting.
GPSRF hi,
Thanks very much for that link and it answers a lot of questions for me.
Thanks once again,

With regards to your post Tom E about NS&I savings accounts, they were a great place to place your spare cash paying well above the rest with regards to interest rates, Just a word of warning from the 24th/Nov they are radically reducing the interest rates they pay. The direct saver you refer to is going from 1% to 0.15%. The Income bonds which again provided an easy access means of savings are going from 1.16% to a derogatory 0.01%. Come the middle of November my cash is on the move away from NS&I .
Not wishing to be morbid but worth considering the Inheritance benefits of Sovereigns and Brittanias too.
A quick google offers this info ---->

Did you know that you can save up to 2 mil MAX in the NS&I savings account and its 100% secure with no £85k limit. However any interest per year can be added to this Max original investment. It is instant access so a great place to hold cash if you want instant access.

Elise hi, Re Gold Sovereigns and Britannias,
Tax Exemptions:-
Simply put, both the gold Sovereign and gold Britannia are exempt from VAT at the point of purchase, as they satisfy the conditions needed to be investment grade gold.
As Sovereigns and Britannias also possess a face value, they’re both considered legal tender within the UK. Profits acquired from sales of both coins are therefore free from Capital Gains Tax.
You may find this of some interest.

Ringworm.. goldcore and Atkinson both sell going coins and bars cheaper than the link to the USA site you posted

SWP have a number of "Inside the Vault" vidoes on their website and U-tube.

For the record, I hold an account and no complaints.
As Britannias are not the highest volume bullion for their N.A. clients, the prices are favourable. However, also better to look at bullion spreads rather than simply the prices.
Trust this helps.
