Russia can capture only those territories where it has the support of the local population and the Poltava region does not belong to such
Just to back up my previous post, here is a piece from a leading pro-Russian propagandist:

The article is complete garbage, of course, and the author no more than a paid liar. But this is the kind of stuff that the Russians are pumping out. And Russian state TV is promoting even worse garbage.
I still think Putin will take this to the brink, secure some concessions, and then back down. But the war drums are beating, and there is a tail risk (I'm thinking 10%) that this spirals out of control.
Hi Maksym!
Considering Russian forces are massing on the borders of Ukraine, the Kremlin's official spokesman has threatened the end of the state of Ukraine and "to shoot it not in the leg but in the face", and that Russian state TV is pumping out war propaganda calling Ukrainians "Nazi traitors" and the like...
Considering that back in 2012 the Kremlin sponsored uprisings not only in Luhansk and Donetsk (where they had some success) but also in Odessa, Dnipropavlovsk (ie.e near enough to FXPO), and Kharkov (where they failed that time)...
Considering that the FXPO plant falls within the half of Ukraine that Russians regard as "theirs"...
Considering that Biden has called Putin "a killer" and "a man who has no soul", and at this point the Russians have very little left to lose...
No, it's definitely not ridiculous to worry about a Russian takeover.
The Poltava region, where the assets of Ferrexpo are located, does not even border on Russia, so talk about the takeover of the company by Russia is simply ridiculous, but thank you, you give the opportunity to buy shares cheaper.
We will all have the option next week with divi payment on the 15th to see whether reinvestment is already worth while. I've a reasonably good divi payment, a week makes a big difference and it's clear everyone on this board supports and wants to invest in fxpo it's just the political landscape around the mines. Once cleared we will all be judging risk and reinvesting

Analysis: Russian military buildup raises stakes as fighting in Ukraine intensifies
By Anton Zverev, Matthias Williams, Jonathan Landay
MOSCOW/KYIV/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Dozens of troop carriers and missile launchers sit on flatbed wagons lining up along tracks running through southern Russia, in a region bordering Ukraine.
Tanks are parked in columns beside the railway, which runs parallel to the M4 highway. Military trucks rumble past, heading toward the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, close to the border.
Ukraine and Western countries accuse Russia of sending troops and heavy weapons to support proxy fighters who seized a swathe of the eastern Donbass region in 2014.
Moscow denies it is part of the conflict in eastern Ukraine and says it provides only humanitarian and political support to the separatists.
The recent deployment of hardware close to Ukraine’s border, captured this week on video seen by Reuters, is what a source close to both the Kremlin and to pro-Russian separatists said was a deliberate show of force at a time of rising tensions between the former Soviet states.
Two sources close to separatist leaders in Donbass said skirmishes were increasing around the separatist-held city of Donetsk, and Kyiv has reported that five of its soldiers have been killed in fighting there this week..............
Yip, I’ve exited here. 3.86 this morning. Once it made mainline press report and the rhetoric begins to increase I can see the SP taking a rather large dent. I hope the situation deescalates as with most issues around the globe. Then will review returning. Nice 30% gain and gutted to exit as it’s throwing off cash. This is a risk I’m not prepared to take.

Ukraine conflict: Moscow could 'defend' Russia-backed rebels
Published24 minutes ago
A top Russian official has warned that Moscow could intervene to help Russian-speaking residents in eastern Ukraine if Ukraine launches an all-out assault on separatists there.
Russian-backed separatist rebels and Ukrainian troops have been clashing in the east of the country.
Russia has also been building up troops on the border with Ukraine.
The official, Dmitry Kozak, said that Russian forces could intervene to "defend" its citizens.
"Everything depends on the scale of the conflagration," he said.
He also warned that an escalation could mark the "beginning of the end" for Ukraine - "not a shot in the leg, but in the face".
The United States and Germany have both expressed concern at the increase in tensions...........................
