fjetcrazy, that was my thought when I saw this news - hopefully very soon (given that the RNS did say launch would be Q4 2017 / Q1 2018). It would also be good if we could add a few other destinations in South Africa for the existing businesses too (eg CPT, DUR from Zimbabwe and JNB from Tanzania and Mozambique).
https://twitter.com/whthome/status/971963567514648582?s=21 - This is great news and will make it so easy to buy Tkts, precursor to South Africa 🇿🇦 launch.
0600 DAR Mwanza operated and departed at 0617 HRs
Either the equipment is not recording all flights today or we have both aircraft out of operation.
UNTIL 17TH March , in the past when we have had one aircraft operating they usually squeeze in an overnight Mwanza except on the days that the LUN operates. But they not even doing that. so we continue to guess 1. Crew shortages 2 Aircraft technically 3 low demand Mind boggling
It seems to have been well planned, no complaints on twitterate all week, only four planned flights for tomorrow, I wonder, maintenance or consolidation in lean times.
Don't know what the problem is or how long for ?
Air Zimbabwe has announced plans to start flying between Harare and Gaborone, among other planned destinations. Runesu Kwaramba, Manager: Marketing and Planning, said: We are working on resuming Lusaka, Lubumbashi, Windhoek and Gaborone. Air Zimbabwe currently has daily flights from Harare to Johannesburg, and three flights a week to Dar es Salaam.
https://twitter.com/news365coza/status/971327142792396807?s=21 https://twitter.com/mthimz/status/971331442264461314?s=21 Harare: This Friday 9 March 2018 fastjet and music legend Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi will host a Zimbabwean first when the superstar performs at 34 000 feet, on a fastjet flight, between Harare and Victoria Falls. Tuku will deliver an acoustic set comprising tracks from his new album titled Hanyga (Concern); the collection of newly penned songs was initially launched on 7 February at Pakare Paye, Tukus recording studio based in Norton. Passengers travelling on flight FN 8003 this Friday will have front row seats to one of the most intimate Tuku performances staged, says fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson Faith Chaitezvi, and it is a first for Zimbabwe. Chaitezvi adds that the performance forms part of the airlines promotion of Victoria Falls, domestic and inbound regional tourism. We are passionate about promoting domestic and regional tourism to Zimbabwe, and what better way than to leverage innovative events in partnership with a musical legend. Commenting on the initiative, Tuku said, This is revolutionary for us as well. There is no better interaction with fans than meeting and sharing with them, mid-flight, music from my new album! Continuing, Tuku added, we are proud to be associated with fastjet who are bringing locals and international tourists to the Victoria Falls. He adds that the party does not end on-board the flight but will later continue on a Zambezi river. Thereafter, a performance at the Elephant Hills Hotel on Saturday 10 March 2018 at 8pm for a full performance with my band. Fastjet presently operates 24 weekly flights between Harare and Victoria Falls, 3 weekly flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls as well as 4 daily flights between Harare and Johannesburg. When adding the airlines popular flights between Harare and Dar es Salaam, it amounts to a tally of 78 weekly flights in Zimbabwe. Fastjet is the airline for everyone in Zimbabwe.
Same story - different source.... http://ewn.co.za/2018/03/07/fastjet-receives-best-value-airline-in-africa-award Now if only they can build upon this good news with some more (as per Fjetcrazy's list)
Good new indeed....... fastjet chief executive Nico Bezuidenhout says receiving the awards are a "tremendous honour". Bezuidenhout says, "It also serves as a validation for the substantial changes and significant enhancements made during the Stabilisation Plan which included a full network re-engineering process, a complete fleet changeover, a new reservation system launch and market entry of the fastjet brand into Mozambique along with a move from London to African soil, among others." http://www.traveller24.com/News/Flights/afritravel-2018-air-transport-awards-names-fastjet-best-value-airline-in-africa-20180307
Most definitely add Bulawayo to that list
fjetcrazy, keep the glass half full! I think we are ALL waiting on the news that you suggest (can I add BUQ to your list too?).
Marksman, the eternal optimist in me prefers to refer to the three as awaiting delivery and re registration rather than grounded , Looking forward to RNS announcing new SA base , Kigoma financial s etc.
Oh Dear our 91% will slip. Hope back to 2 aircraft operation 2morro ? Bit ironic really when we have 3 aircraft sitting on tarmac unused at Toulouse.
Thats excellent news, while agreeing with B787s point, too. Maybe Nicos quote in traveller24 will also compensate a little pro tem. I thought your heading was going to refer to that photo of the three grounded aircraft though, that taskmaster posted last week, fjetcrazy!
Polar opposite attitude to informing shareholders compared with the Ed Winter regime. Makes Ed look OTT with all his delusional RNSs claiming how rosy things were at fastjet compared with the reality. Would be slightly reassuring to hear something though - can’t see this being too investible to new shareholders if there has been no update for so long - I hope that it’s not going to be a last minute affair with the publication of results again!
As such, the carrier's acting General Manager (Commercial), Aaron Munetsi, told African Aerospace earlier this year that as part of SAA's renewed focus on developing its continental African market access, it is now looking to expand the offering to countries closer to home. Among the African cities where SAA is looking at starting longhaul services are Harare Int'l (Zimbabwe), Lusaka (Zambia), and Entebbe/Kampala (Uganda). We are talking to other markets in Africa," he said. "We are talking to Zimbabwe about Harare-London, to Zambia about Lusaka-London and to Uganda about Entebbe-London. Its been very well received. The Ghanaian government has been exceptionally supportive and the government of Uganda has approached us, asking what they need to do to fast-track the process. The Zimbabwean government is cooperating with us very well and the same with Zambia. We overfly most of these markets from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, so it makes sense for us to drop in capacity as we go
And the same again tomorrow, seems planned and managed on this occasion 2 x MWA 1 x JRO 1 x MBI
One aircraft operation again today.
PJ In answer to the question we do indeed have an aircraft out of service.
