A man hanged himself at the Joshua Mqabuko International Airport on Thursday after checking into a flight to Johannesburg. A passenger who was on the early evening FastJet flight to South Africa said the man had been allocated seat 15A on flight FN8663.
"He arrived at the airport and checked-in. Then for whatever reason he went to the male toilet and hanged himself. It appears he had a rope.”
Police had recovered a diary "full of suicide notes.” Airport officials declined to comment.
I suppose there are bound to be a few people who just can’t face the prospect fo flying with fastjet!

Well Marksman, there seems to be some life left at least, glad to see FJ is still operational. I dont know much about relisting, however have been reading some worrying 'tricks' that can leave original investors with nothing to show for their patience, lets hope not !!
Welcome back Dabler. I really thought this place had died, with no sign of life for over four months. Hardly surprising given just the sight of tumbleweed blowing across it in the dust.
Still I’ve been one of the original “Stalwarts” since I bought in way back in 2013. And whenever I’ve been provoked into posting I always do a random check to see if we have any aircraft actually in the air! And am pleased to confirm that a random selection shows there are not one but two flights from Harare to Johannesburg operating on 6 June at 06:10 and 16:45. So all is well.
At this rate, you should hear from me again sometime in late September! ATB to all investors in fj.
Make that 5 :)
Holding shares since delisting, never been in this position before, what realistically do you think the chances are of a relist and getting funds back? I'm not holding much hope, but there seems to be a glimmer....
Welcome, BuyMeAnother, to the fastjet forum. Despite your “giving up”, your final sentiment suggests otherwise. Let’s hope we see more posts from you in 2024 and that your forecast proves to be prophetic.
Make that 7. If this turkey relists, will I get my shares back? Have given up all hope, but it looks like Fjet could be dialing up bigger profits in 2024.

Sorry!! I see it seems as if html is not permnitted on this forum. So without any of that, here, again, is what I posted:
The December issue of “Places” has just been published.
It is free to all passengers and includes just eight pages of almost all full-page advertising. The articles are beautifully illustrated in full-colour.
You need a large 27” monitor to be able to read it, otherwise I imagine you could print it out at full size on an A4 printer.
Have just spotted the omission of much of my original post, which should've read: "The December issue of “Places” has just been published, available to see at this link:

Enjoy yourself my friend

I am so pleased you are still around and willing to post again. You have always been one of my 'closest' stalwarts! A warm welcome back. Any opinions on the chance of the share price ever recovering? It still seems so odd to me when tickets still seem to be flying off the shelves and filling seats that the SP doesn't budge. Keep well.
Good evening Marksman.
I am pleased to report that I am still around and in good health. I have just finished a season of bowls and was able to play all matches except one. Doing lots of walking too.
Good to see you are around and I hope you are well too. Can't believe it is so long since I posted. An AWOL Stalwart has returned!
Oilyguy: Couldn’t agree more. It looks as if Fossiebeer is still around and, more importantly, still contributing to this forum too. So there are still three of us!
There used to be a regular poster, with whom I met up once at one of the company’s AGMs in London, after several months (years?) of mutual communication here, and his username was Ronwin (last post dated 1 January 2021). That rather confirms my suspicion that his infirmity I recall may have worsened. Of course I sincerely hope not, so if you are still a stalwart, Ron, re-engage as soon as you like; you’d be most welcome.
Marksman. Its good to know that at least there's two of us stalwarts prepared to still peep over the parapet. All the best.
After another vain check to see if anyone else is around on the LSE fastjet forum, I'm disappointed if not entirely surprised to discover no new posts for five months!!!, but there was some comfort to see that a new edition of fastjet's travel magazine Places has been published, dated September/November 2023. Its 48 pages are strongly focused on South Africa with the last few pages devoted to federal Airlines which operates shuttle and charter flights. Before that, pages 40-43 follow the usual style and content familiar to any former "stalwarts" still active! And there is the usual "Welcome Letter" headed "Warm Greetings" on page 4.
However, it's a bleak sign of its status that full page ads are right down at 3, plus one double-page spread for HAC Medical. To the best of my knowledge (ie: recent research) there have been no Annual Report and Financial Statements since 2021 nor the in-flight magazine Places since 2018. Nor before that's predecessor, TravelSmart, whose masthead conspicuously featured its famous African Grrey parrot.
However, it's good to see the company is still surviving but disappointing to see it is no longer voted Africa's Leading Low-Cost Airline at the World Travel Awards since 2021 and voted for the previous 5 consecutive years.
As for the share price, as Basil Fawlty might've said, "Don't mention it!"

RE: FASTJET GEARS UP FOR NEW ROUTE LAUNCH
HARARE, ZIMBABWE | fastjet Zimbabwe, the award-winning value-based airline has today welcomed the arrival of an Embraer 120, 30-seater aircraft to its Harare base.
The arrival of the first of three Embraer 120 aircraft is in preparation for the value-based airline’s plans to operate domestic flights to Kariba and Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. These new routes will bring to five the domestic destinations that fastjet operates in Zimbabwe after Harare, Victoria Falls and Bulawayo offering customers seamless connections to Zimbabwe’s top domestic tourism destinations.
Nunurai Ndawana fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson said, “We are delighted to welcome this aircraft to serve our domestic new routes to Kariba and Hwange National Park. Air connectivity is a key enabler for tourism development, and we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the development of tourism in Zimbabwe and the region”.
“We are finalising our preparations for the launch of flights to Kariba and Hwange National Park. The arrival of this aircraft will see us concluding the mandatory regulatory processes in operating flights to these strategic destinations in the development of tourism in Zimbabwe. In preparation for these route launches the aircraft will operate a series of ad-hoc charter flights around Zimbabwe ahead of the full schedule launch”, concluded Nunurai Ndawana.
The new flights are available for booking via the fastjet website, App and the usual online trade portals.

I’ll wait then, it’s only £4K , I prefer £20k in a couple more years ??
For me it's a watch and wait, particularly as the company now seems to be much better managed and expanding the network prudently?
Such a long wait between auctions, it’s certainly a slow process . £30 a share at the moment. I suppose it’s the seller that raises the bar. I might sell mine for £40 and see if anyone takes. Or shall I wait? Any advice anyone?
Demand exceeding supply on Asset Match.

Of course you would've been an 'original' Stalwart Fossiebeer, but as you confirm just now, you made no contribution to the Forum early on so, having just checked my record at that time, you don't appear. But I have become very familiar with your username since from your occasional posts.
Like you, I too have seen my substantial holding literally "wiped out', valued at zero but still cling on to them in the very vague hope that, since the airline seems to be quite active and seats often fully booked, according to the occasional random check, not to mention the fleet now five after years of the status quo of just three aircraft, then it still has a future – hopefully a healthy one.
Well I bought my first FJET shares 18-Sep-2012 so I think that counts me as an original stalwart, just that I didn't make much comment in the first years of holding as there was a lot of bull being talked about in those years (all of which has tuned out unfortunately to be true!). I'm still holding this miserable share but my holding has but been all but wiped out by the last consolidation. I can't be bothered to sell what I have as I will lose as much in fees as I would currently gain. I think in the longer term Solenta wants to make this a private company, so just to be a thorn in their side, I'm not selling my few shares, they will have to take me along with them, (unless they make me a ridiculous offer for my shares, which they wont of course).
Ah but, respectfully, you weren't amongst the "ORIGINAL" Stalwarts around 2013–2016. (I've just checked an historic list in my files!!) Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you consider yourself one now.

Marksman, I'm the other stalwart! See my post 10th November; and I still believe in Santa.
"fastjet Zimbabwe is to commence services to Hwange National Park and Kariba, commencing in March 2023, the flights will be from Harare and Victoria Falls to Kariba Airport and Hwange National Park Airport."
So more positive news to come early next year and yet still has no effect on the SP, still languishing mysteriously at absolute zero. I think I, if not you, have had enough of my positive take on this company's future, based purely of announcements of any future expansion plans.
marksman; significant shareholder since February 2013! and, possibly, the only survivor of an original group that became known as the "Stalwarts"!!

I dont quite understand this auction. Why, if somebody’s says I want shares at £30, would people seem to be offering them for less money??
I’ve just made my latest occasional visit to the company’s website and quite surprised to see a reference to their fifth Embraer 145 50-seater at the end of their official website directed to newcomers, “Discover the story of fastjet”.
At the moment, I still call that a major announcement considering the number of years we’ve been used to it being a mere 3 aircraft. Who was it who said “Every little helps”?
I just see this company going from strength to strength in what seems to be a very orderly and sustainable, albeit gradual expansion. I'm hanging in for the rise of the Phoenix?
I've seen the same thing. I don't know, but my gut feeling that it is likely to be Solenta trying to mop up all available shares or those that want to sell them given the high price offering, £30.00/share. Hate to admit it, and certainly don't want to lose my money, but I am tempted to get out while this current price is being offered. I'm never going to get my money back on this share, so something is better than nothing; will let you all know what I do.
Just checked asset match a one buyer seems to be buying up any available stock. They keep upping their requirement as extra shares become available.
I am still holding on to mine, is that a risk?
Any ideas ?

Shares last traded on Asset match for 0.03 pence, so the current value is a third of that before the corporate action.
I previously held 3.1 million shares, so if the price would have increased to 1p, they would have been worth £31,000 plus. The price would now have to get to over £100 per share to get the same amount. At pricing the new share at 100p they will stop investment ie people buying, where as while in the pence and below, people may have taken a punt.
Seems to me someone as a plan, now that the airline has survived, the covid crisis and is now making a profit. I expect a forced buy back on the cheap at some stage? Or maybe we are going to get rich on the dividends.
Yes, it does look a tad suspicious, doesn’t it, Fossiebeer I had got my overall average down to £1.30 by mid-July 2018 after the 1 for 26 Open Offer, but the actual share price was £0.08p. Still, I’d be happy with 800p a share! At least, I’d have recovered £1144.
You and me both Marksman. I had managed to get my average share price down to 7p per share, now to even break even the shares would have to be £800 / share which is never going to happen, never!. Looks like a deliberate ploy to get all the other share holders out of the business and with 67% of the shareholding, Solenta can do what they like with the shares, we have all been well and truly f**ked!
So can anyone explain to me, with my shares now worth absolutely zero, the flight schedules still showing no cancellations. Eg: my single trial example – Harare to Jo’burg: “Hurry! 2, 3 or 4 seats left”? Prices from $242 for ValueFlyers up to $342 for FlexiFlyers? As I write “14 people [were] viewing this route”! Looks darned healthy to me still. But then, wasn’t I always the optimist.
Marksman – Original investor of 35,000 shares at 2.86p each on 27 Feb 2013, soon to drop down to 0.69p before ‘recovering’ to 1p on 1 July 2013. Hit a high of 7.22p on 28 Aug 2013 before sliding right down to £1 after second Consolidation of 1 for every 100 on 20 April 2015.
Would appear you are correct. Just checked my shareholding and now I am holding just above zilch!!! They didn't even round up, they rounded down, thanks for nothing FJET!!! Literally!
Going to have to write this down as a loss which I can ill afford but with whats left of my holding, I'm never going to get any value back on this one.

Yep, Im also still checking in every so often, still hold shares, I think this might come good after all one day. Here's hoping....
I check this board out once or twice a week Fossiebeer, so, as one of the original “Stalwarts”, I am one who never misses your excellent posts. So please continue. Still holding a substantial number of shares, and still with faith that the dismal share price WILL begin to recover SOONish. At my advanced age, it just HAS to!
"In the auction that closed on 31st August 2022, no shares traded. The lowest offer was 0.01 pence per share."
Just in case anybody is still reading this board, as promised latest result of auction, no surprises here. Not sure anyone is anymore since the H1 Results post I put up thought might get a reaction, but no responses to that either. Still in the vain hope that I might get me money back one day, I'll keep posting any news I think relevant.
Good luck everyone.
In the auction that closed on 25th May 2022, no shares traded. The lowest offer was 0.01 pence per share.
The next auction will close at 4pm on the 31st August 2022.
My feeling on this is that shares are unlikely to trade until at least the next results are know. If going by the last year, these wont be published until November time.
Keep the faith everyone, whilst the aircraft are flying there is still optimism regarding the outlook for this company
IMHO / DYOR. etc etc.
Yes, please do (keep this thread updated), Fossiebeer, whether there's good, bad or no news. Someone has to keep it going, ready for when we take off again. I echo again your final sentiment today with the new route in a fortnight.

Thanks for that reminder, Fossiebeer, following on to our mutual optimism last month. I doubt any others will offer anything more positive than what you've produced on the back of a fag packet. What target does fastjet have to reach now for you to stop smoking?!!
So with the start of the new Maun route today, plus the recent additional flights to Jo 'burg, and new route to Nelspruit as well, I have done some back of fag packet calculations as follows:
Vic. Falls to Maun additional 8 sectors / week
Vic. Falls to Nelspruit additional 6 sectors / week
Vic. Falls to Jo 'burg additional 14 sectors / week
Total additional sectors 28 sectors / week.
Using European LCC as an a metric assuming 90% yield should result in circa extra 65K pax. per year =
additional revenue at average say of US$200 / seat would be US$13.1m / year.
With say US$10 profit / seat approx. extra US$1.31m profit per year.
As I say back of fag packet calculations but nevertheless gives an idea of hopefully the extra revenue / profit these extra routes may provide, and of course if more routes / frequencies occur, then so the profit would hopefully increase.
If anyone has any more accurate calculations, then please post against this thread.
As ever all IMHO, DYOR etc etc

Thank you ksv21 and good to see you on the forum. I'm still patiently waiting for the news which was promised for mid-March – long ago already. The Pandemic set us back again unfortunately but reports suggest that people are now rushing in to booking holidays after the frustrations of being stuck in the UK. I'm not quite so naive as to think that that means crowds of Africans are snapping up tickets for fastjet's bargain ticket prices.
But my post a little while ago reported my discovery that flights were selling out with warnings that "only one (or two) tickets left" [on this flight] a day or two before departure. So like travellers all over the world, they are just as keen to have a vacation and visit fa,ily and friends after the two year ban.
Not holding now but did and remember the exciting times and the exuberance of the Stalwarts. Good fortune Marksman.

Well since posting that earlier, the site once again shows its frequently inaccurate tendencies! There are no flights to MQP until Monday 11 April when just three ValueFlyer seats are available at $255.00 inclusive. FlexiFlyer are at $405 each.
Great to read some positive news at last today as the new flight from Victoria Falls begins. It's been a lomg time.
[My full post was as follows:] Anyone still around may recall my post on New year's Eve drawing their attention to the positive news of "the introduction of flights from Victoria Falls to Nelspruit’s Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) scheduled to begin on 16 March 2022."
It then seemed such a long way off. However, according to www.chronicle.co.zw this morning at 11:01am, their headline reads “NWE: Fastjet [sic] adds another aircraft to Zimbabwe”
Their Senior Business Reporter goes on to write “Low-cost airline, Fastjet Zimbabwe, has added another Embraer ERJ145 aircraft into commercial service in the country.
“The latest 50-seater aircraft was introduced on Wednesday afternoon.
“Fastjet tweeted ‘The latest addition to the fleet has this afternoon entered service flying to Bulawayo.’”
In my book, there is no room for ambiguity in that statement. But, as they say “don’t believe everything you read in the papers”! Checking fastjet’s booking site, clicking any date up to and including Tue 15 March displays “There are no flights on the selected date”. But click in the next available tab and you’ll see under Fri 18 March, “Sold Out”! Ditto for the return flight on Mon 21 Mar.
So I’m afraid it’s back to Square One after all.

Should have bought Bitcoin instead!
Join the Club, vbeckers! I am too embarrassed to declare just how many shares I bought every time they dropped, after following a well-intentioned recommendation way back in October 2013. I have kept them all (see my post of 24 January below!) therefore my loss runs into tens of thousands
It appears that fossiebeer MAY share my sentiment.
8½ years ago, the enthusiasm of several early investors was so high that we were christened "The Stalwarts". Sadly, they have all died off, judging by their total absence from this forum for a couple of years or more, leaving just me holding the fort! Or flag perhaps.
Anyway, I remain optimistic that we may be given some news towards the end of March when a new route is added to the service, together with a fourth aircraft, though the reason for that otherwise encouraging expansion to our modest fleet is unclear.

Hopefully only one flight has been affected and its not a long term outage.
If it ain't one thing it's another.
A FASTJET plane was Wednesday morning forced to make a u-turn to Harare after failing to land at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo due to power cuts.
There was no backup generator available at the airport for the plane to make a safe landing forcing it to return back to Harare.
Wouldn't you think every airport would be equipped with an emergency generator?
At least the company can't be blamed for this.

I'm sure that's a sensible and logical conclusion, Fossiebeer. Your analysis, and indeed, knowledge, is deeper than mine! Maybe we haven't been supplied with all the information detail? Why don't you write or email Mark Hurst or Rashid Wally?!
I think I'll change my username to "BornOptimist"!
Good find Marksman, but I wonder why they need a 4th aircraft, the 3 they currently have are only being used maybe 2 or 4 sectors a day, nowhere near enough. Now if this 4th aircraft is for additional expansion, maybe routes to Cape Town, Gaborone, Lusaka maybe, then fair enough. But I don't really see the need for a 4th aircraft at this time with the sectors they currently have in hand on a daily basis.
The only other reason I can think of is this a Solenta aircraft which hasn't been used and they want it off their hands.

I was wrong again; things didn't "only get better" in 2021", as I posted on Christmas Day 2020!!
So may I re-post what i wrote then, headed "To any "Stalwarts" still around" – (you know who you are!) – just with the dates updated:
"Greetings to any of the original band of "Stalwarts" still around, languishing with losses on their investment of up to 99%! It would be an ultra optimist to anticipate any significant turnaround next year but as things can't possibly get any worse, they can only get better! So here's to the end of the present threat in Africa early in 2021 and the sight of the SP slowly rising as passengers return. Meanwhile, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy - even prosperous - New Year."
