Re Ozzie... The difference is we and the US did not invade a peace loving country, as for the war in Afghanistan, well that country had been taken over by the fanatical jihadist terrorists of the Taliban who want to subjugate free thinking people and deny women their rights. Don't try to justify Putin the 'CHILD MURDERER's war in Ukraine. We are very fortunate to live in a reasonable democracy, unlike the medieval rules imposed on the poor Russian people by the autocratic ruler the Evil CHILD KILLER who is Vladimir Putin! He's a great bloke but just needs a bullet in the back of his head along with the rest of his friends and family. Aimho Adyor!!!
It’s pretty obvious UK more engaged with plight of Eastern Europeans (walk like us, talk like us, look like us) than Syrians/afghanis and this comes through in media.
Sorry if you’re upset about this but please don’t think everyone is unaware. Thanks
(following on from Hant's post - 952) .... and the cost of holidaying in the UK is now astronomical .... so looking as though going forward, it will be the short haul operators that benefit the most..?...
hants
Total agreement.
Not everyone wants to get locked in to a long haul commitment
Even if sacks off a bit I’m holding this one
Everything will get back to normal when the evil murdering CHILD KILLER Vladimir Putin is defeated in Ukraine and is either jailed of executed by the Russian people who are enslaved by this medieval tyrant.

The cost of living argument is a reasonable one, but we are talking about a budget airline flying short haul. People in the UK will mostly still be able to afford a holiday, but IMO it will likely be the case that many will choose a cheaper one as opposed to flying out to Mexico, Caribbean etc.
Operating more flights defeats the object…
You then need the same number of staff each
day , when staff numbers are the issue…
Travel will pick up once the Evil CHILD KILLER Vladimir Putin losses his atrocious war in Ukraine. Let's hope Putin and his family are assassinated sooner rather than later, after all how many innocent families has he ordered to be murdered in Ukraine. I hope his death is a slow one! Not that I've got anything against the murdering monster who is causing a world wide famine by stopping Ukraine shipping food out of it's Black Sea ports...Aimho Adyor!
Hardly desperation Nutmegmilk makes economical sense better surely have a aircraft flying with 6 less passengers than not when flying on a revenue route .
even if it doesn't allow 'extra' flights
it still reduces risk of cancellations if one of your crew ring in sick
you put more spare capacity in to move the staff around
planes running with 3 staff and a few less seats is better than cancelling a flight ( and there were a lot of cancellations earlier in the year )
If lack of cabin crew is the constraint on EZJ operating more flights it makes a lot of sense to strip out 6 seats and reduce from 4 to 3 cabin crew.
Result = more flights able to be operated and more profit
well there is still a lot of covid around and a lot of staff off sick and struggling to recruit
removing a few back rows, means that remove staff from 3 planes you can now run an extra plane. ( exempting pilot issues )So the amount of passengers is now far greater to try and maximise as much as they can this summer
looks odd when you first hear of it - but it's actually a very smart move until staffing levels return to normal
Thanks for the reply ... it looks like hope to me ....By taking out the back row of seating on its A319 fleet, EasyJet said it will be able to fly with three cabin crew instead of four ... that to me is a sound of desperation!
This was mentioned on Bloomberg earlier today when they were talking about Easyjet
They were saying that a lot of people have saved money last couple of years with less spending and not going away on holiday. So they reckoned that even with the cost of living issues the saved money and desperation to get away, outweigh the cost of living worries. Plus Easyjet may benefit more than others as people sway towards the cheaper airlines.
Next year may be different but fingers crossed for all of us that things ease off by then.
How can travel pickup with the cost of living ... I know people want to get away after the lockdown ...but you have to live!
