Interesting seeing comments on all sorts of shares I hold, but never on this. Steady growth in profits and dividends - obviously boring!
Japanese doji, candlestick on friday. Also lower, Bollinger band turned up, possibly signaling retracement. If sp, closes below doji, low of 3870, sell, with expectation of retrace, possibly to previous peak high of 3714. Re-enter equity, when either RSI(relative strength index), çrosses above 50, or bounces up from 50.
Interesting how there are never any comments on this share. Pretty impressive growth over a long period of time both in turnover and profits. Is this because it is not a speculative stock or considered boring by commentators?
In a normal environment you buy the index. Its a no brainer.
But when fundamental analysis goes out of the window and we see this classic human behaviour, it is time to buy individual shares with a view to hold for 10 years - forever.
To sell Cranswick would not be 1 decision. It would be 2. What do I buy if I sell? Getting 2 decisions right is not within most peoples ability (including professionals - not even they can outperform the index).
If Benjamin Graham were alive today and living in Britain (priced out of international markets due to a weak pound), i'm confident he would be buying Cranswick and ignoring all the sound (forever).
hfg is definitely the reason for the drop
Yeah, that makes sense. I suppose the recent director purchases are a good sign for us though. Fingers crossed the upcoming results are good.
I'd say hilton foods profit warning is the reason for the drop
I wonder if this is the reason for todays 8% drop?
Have other people seen this Dutch company producing sausages from cells taken from pigs? It means no animals need be killed to produce the meat we are used to eating. The company are confident genuine steaks can be made this way, so all meat products could be made this way. Obviously if this does develop Cranswick's business is finished.
what I don't know is how quickly this can be developed economically.
Anyone have any opinions?
£32m new breaded poultry line/s, fast growing catergory with not alot of competition out there, Cranswick have already snagged upsecured breaded poultry supply into Morrisons. If lines built right then they can produce very low cost and make good margin, it provides another stream for material from their poultry business, with ingredients being a lot cheaper than meat and with breaded poultry picking up around 30-35% ingredients, then it really is a good value added revenue stream, but only if done right....

What do people think? Will food price inflation be good or bad for Cranswick?

An update around the bird flu situation would be helpful. Have they been affected? If they are, are they insured? They said restaurant closures were helpful in the first half of this year so it's safe to assume the 2nd half has seen a similar benefit.

They really are a very impressively put together company that has been well managed for many years. As tantalising as the smell of a bacon butty in the morning - in the end they have to stay on my Watch list as I dont want to go in until their is more clarity on the Brexit situation. I think its important to see how things play out next year as even with a deal Brexit their should be increases in wage costs and the effect of trading with the rest of the world on Pig and Poultry prices is extremely difficult to predict.
This is a potential banana skin: https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1335597653305024514
Is the annual dividend 60p? The companys all round growth is interesting, but can anyone explain the huge director sells in July, also what are the future upsides and downsides here?
More music to the ears of investors with profits, margins, EPS, dividends and ROCE all well up despite the obvious challenges of the COVID-19 period and a few outbreaks. Great job by the BOD!! Definitely expecting to hit all-time highs in the coming months with Xmas being a key part of the most profitable quarter
I wouldn't be surprised if the SP hit £40 shortly before or immediately after the update 24 November 2020
I work in this industry, covid is not stopping production, they work with retailers to streamline the range and make sure the products they are running are easy to do and make good money, but new products are also launching too (which I do not agree with, not really essential is it?) but all measures are in placce and people are being kept safe, some of the staff will be to blame for the spread, but unlike when the pandemic first started, no food companies are shutting down, they just scale back, streamline and focus on margin making products, even delist/rest some of the loss leaders they are forced to do sometimes, some of these switched on companies are also taking the time to install upgrades or automate during this pandemic too, so CWK is in a great place and I expect it to be back to 40p by xmas. This is a great company to invest in, all my opinion.
