More of the same probably...likes sound of his own voice like most parliamentarians...bla bla bla

Apparently he has just had a media / press meeting - we should hear a little more detail soon!!
No.... pretty uninspiring .... as I said yesterday, I think the devil will be in the detail offline ... he basically re-stated 'facts' as he called them and not a huge amount else.
No fan of his, but in a room that was behaving like westminster last year he did try to be measured and calm
@Bumblingfool the key takeaway for Bushveld is the 2GW of energy storage procurement by 2030.
Indeed others are more technically versed than you or I in terms of more fine detail, but if you haven't seen it already I would highly recommend the recent interview with Fortune: http://www.miningweekly.com/article/bushveld-sees-battery-storage-potential-beyond-evs-2020-02-17/rep_id:3650
It contains a condensed well paced plan for how Bushveld can meet that need. One key point from the interview is that the electrolyte plant will initially service 200Mwh of electrolyte with the potential to scale that by four times.
Also the bid window for the much anticipated BESS project will open soon. Bushvield has expressed intention to bid I believe
Perhaps some of the more knowledgable contributors here will add some analysis, not sure I’m very clear but my take on it is they have removed some red tape but not as much as they could have done. I think they have removed the limit on mini grids which previously caped generation at 1mw previously I’d heard a new upper limit of 10mw mooted but I didn’t hear that today. The upshot is the door is open to expanding our mini grid at Vametco which could open up the market for similar instillations
Thanks BF .. did not realise that .... not at all inspiring delivery, but to be fair, he came over as trying to be measured and factual (although when he ran out of time he clearly could not wait to get off the stand).
I really don't know what we were expecting ... maybe the devil is in the detail offline
Big news indeed Tyfoon, it unlocks the shackles at Vametco and allows a much larger mini-grid (now a midi-grid?) to be installed to cover more of the plant requirements. Deploying a larger scale project at their own facility will certainly open doors as at last they will have something demonstrable for new prospects. Nothing like physical proof you can actually achieve a large scale deployment to allay any potential customer doubt.
You can scroll back the time on the live broadcast to watch him
Faramog the time has come for you and I to part company.
I am sorry to hear about your mother and wish her the best for the future.
However I have no wish to read your views on South Africa so I have no alternative but to filter you. I wish you every success with your investment here.
Regards. Pdub.
A time frame on Nersa's affirmation would have been nice..
it seems everything is now in place and just awaiting their final go ahead.
How complicated do things really have to be!?
Anyhow given the urgency of the situation, agreement can't take that long.
Doh! Thanks Daitom. I tuned in at 12:50 so must have just missed him!
Not wishing to be disrespectful but I do not understand most of what he says!!!
oh dear .. was it good ? .. what did he say ?
He was on about 12:30 ish - Remember they are two hours in front of the UK!!
He was the most forward looking speaker do far. Missed his name but quite impressive.
I'm guessing Mantashe is 2pm but can't be sure as it does seem a little chaotic with sometimes ridiculous points of order that are laughed off.
He has already been on!!
I know VV .... did not hold back in his condemnation at all !
What time is Gwebe on ... 2pm ?
Back to the debate..
I did catch the representative from the southern Cape calling for Mantashe to be dismissed if urgent reform is to be achieved.
Ladies.. not today of all days!
Since my actual mother is in a poor way with Motor Neuron disease, not something I wish on anyone at all... I am also very clad you are not my mother !
You have a nice day now
And you have no idea how happy that makes me!
lighten up @pdub ... and you wrong in your ascertion ... it is not just SA politicians (although they have a particular African problem of cronyism), but pretty well all politicians. I find pretty well the lot of them a bunch of liars and distorters of the truth.
What was funny was just how kindergarden it was .... and yes .. Westminster has spent 3 years like this.
Just lighten up .. you are not my mother !

"Mantashe also announced an easing of limitations on licensing of generation for own use of above 1 MW, which he said would mainly be used to supplement power supply to commercial and industrial customers including the mines.
"Installed capacity above 1MW is unlimited. Since May 2019, Nersa has received 18 applications, totalling one 116 MW, in this category. Most of them are incomplete because they lack power purchase agreements, which is a requirement to show who the consumer of the power is and to indicate connection agreements for consumers still dependent on the national grid."
for those that were complete, Nersa would move the licence the plants within the prescribed licensing timeline of 120 days."
