Beinthelead, not sure I agree that Medusa is needed. This is a new market for lateral flow tests in the UK, so not sure it is relevant that Avacta struggled before (and we don’t know how sales have been). There is a shortage of supply of LFTs and a sudden increase in demand from travel test providers. I don’t think HUA is necessary as the test providers will supervise (online or in person) their customers as they take the tests. Surely Avacta will be able to sell into this market directly by doing deals with the test providers, just as AS alluded to in the business update when he stated testing service providers are a key customer for sales of the professional use test.
“ The application of no blame insurance cover is also a priority” unlikely to happen or follow some US States and limit compensation via Hospitals & Medics by statue, only problem then is that the weevil attorneys brag into blame every piece of equipment, furniture, drugs and disposal items used in any procedure, knowing they have no protection against punitive and general damages !
Wife says that sex is definitely far better and way more exciting when on holiday .
Not the best postcard l have ever received.
Doze: Yes. Maybe wasn’t clear.
We need a provider, I.e. won’t go it alone. But we’re not mandated to supply Medusa only.
beinthelead; don't providers have the responsibility of gathering proof and submitting to DHSC. It is a strong border protection with the £1k/£2k fines for non compliance, other countries are employing/contemplating a broad sweep approach to UK ie noone from there allowed into their country. https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/1510067/UK-travel-ban-countries-ban-UK-flights-Morocco-half-term-evg but I prefer ours-opening up is a must.
I am glad about this https://www.politico.eu/article/uk-boris-johnson-break-science-funding-pledge-budget-coronavirus/ as big pharma has profited from covid I imagine and can fund themselves however he must break the link of regulators being influenced by big pharma and national spies/lobbies on the panels. The members should also be protected from any bad decisions by insurance and procedures speeded up in times of quick AI and willing human research material (in a tube or other means), I think animals used in research is wrong.
The application of no blame insurance cover is also a priority for surgeons in order to reduce the legal payouts and time wasting and bad blood! blame culture in the NHS as the Swedes do their insurance for surgeons. It just seems like another institutional gravy train for lawyers.
They haven’t had to rely Medusa for this, before now, and struggled massively. Class leading product, very poor commercial execution.
So… Medusa is needed, not mandated.
I might be wrong, but my understanding of the agreement with Medusa 19 is that they have exclusive rights to directly distribute the the test to consumers, but non-exclusive rights for distribution for businesses. This means that Avacta can sell directly to testing providers, who will be providing a testing service to consumers rather than simply selling the tests to consumers (which they would be unable to do as M19 have exclusive rights to do this). So I don’t see why Avacta need M19 to be able to tap into the international travel testing market.
Just to confirm what chartmy said here's the excerpt from the presentation:
AffiDX professional use antigen test:
--Direct sales focusing on large supply contracts with corporates, elite sports, travel and testing services in UK and Europe;
–– Distributors: Calibre Scientific in UK, EU
--Regulatory approvals and distributors being established in APAC and other overseas markets.
Probably by testing service provider they mean Medusa though.
The Government now have in place fairly robust inbound Passenger Locator and Day 2 Test procedures which aren’t likely to be jettisoned any time soon. HUA will be a significant USP for AffiDX and any ongoing delays in its approval, will have little long term consequences, but it’s approval is key. Just hope Medusa aren’t relying on Google Translate for the instruction pamphlet !
This list could include 10,000 providers… they are distributers, in reality. The majority of the providers will be supplying the same test.
For AffiDX, USP to sell via this route is HUA. So for us, nothing’s changed.
We should be talking about what makes you choose a specific provider? Price - yes. But look at them all. Cheap through to expensive. And they’ll all sell.
Our USP will be Medusa. Marketing will be the differentiator. That list of 25 providers is very boring and bland. Nothing stands out.
Rest in peace pcr.
jcb208, you'd better hope there's decent profit in LFT kits as NCYT are apparently having theirs approved..... Albeit a few months away
Quite clear the prices haven’t been driven down. There are no free LFT tests anymore and the cheapest advertised is £20 as stated TODAY in every press / news article !
Joker.
Is there much profit in the LFT kits any way as the price has been driven down
In the Business Update (if anyone actually listened!) Alasdair said that one of the key customers is TESTING SERVICE PROVIDERS, therefore, our LFT will absolutely be used for people returning to the UK. Also, the cheapest test showing is £20. That’s means HUGE numbers for AVCT given we have currently been selling it for £7 (even taking into a account margin for the third party test service provider). Even at 1million tests a month, every extra £1 per test we can achieve is another £1million profit to AVCT. I have no doubt Medusa19!will be onto this like a fat kid on cake…
Rest easy. Big things coming.
J4ams, you only ever turn up to deramp, anyway as has been discussed the list is providers Avacta are not a provider
Yeah but as usual our test is not available on the government website to buy as a choice!
