Seamus , also been in G3 since 10p suspended currently but dear god we could both be same lucky when this opens again :)
Seamus,
I'm in the world of composite materials, not something I ever wanted or planned to do but went to work for a company for what i thought would be for the summer, ended up staying there a lot longer than I had intended, got moved around to different departments as a Manager so learnt a lot of how the business worked (or more importantly DIDN'T work in areas). It's an Industry i was comfortable in given the time i'd spent in it so the natural progression was to leave there and set up myself. Yes, I do a bit of farming, I don't make any money out if it, it's just a hobby and actually costs me money, my (38 ish) sheep all have names so eating them isn't even a possibility, I do eat meat but not my own animals.
Bryn
What do you manufacture ? do you also farm ?
Out of interest who would you say the gang leader is ?
Hey Bryn
I know, If i'd stayed at Healthcare comms a little longer I could've bought a damn sight more than a kitchen. My ex partner is now retired with his millions. Them's the breaks sometimes
My holding are- in order of stake- Amigo, Vela, MLVN, Thor. I'm also in G3E but only profits in there
Make no mistake this company will start lending again. You do not employ eaxtra staff, turnaround expertise etc. They would have pulled the money out in pay and bonuses etc well before now. The BOD want a pay day as well. Very soon they will be lending with FCA onside and the back log of historical complaints will dry up. Any new complainants will find it difficult to to achieve compensation if the new procedures follow recommendations by the FCA.
HOLD FOR GOLD
Scrambler, that post shows a lot of dignity to be fair even if it wasn't intended for me.
I think the gang leader has a lot of negative influence on a few decent people here, he provides the ammo for others to shoot, he portrays himself as a composed, calm individual, something which is far from the truth, he's a pompous, arrogant, self cantered bully deep down, no getting away from that.
As always scrambler patience is the moneymaker. I will not sell any at these prices what's the point? I believe it will recover pretty soon.
Now do I add some more in the 8s? Hmmm
Hi guys,
My apologies for my ranting earlier. The honest investors here are great people, and this shares have been on a rollercoaster journey, and I know many of us wanted a good result earlier.
There is a good BOD in place and i am confident that they will navigate the last hurdles and get this company moving forward. All of us I'm sure will have our well deserved payday.
Thanks Rich
Sounds great ! Thanks for the insight , that was one mighty expensive kitchen you bought back in 2013 :/ It would still keep my awake at night !
I'd love a windmill, I have got a WW2 Pillbox in my woodland but happy to swap for your windmill anyway. We've got a Lab and a working Border Collie, handy for me when we need the sheep moved or rounded up :)
I was in SNG but sold up when they got to 220, still in Hemo and N4, you in there too ?
Thanks again for the insight, sounds idyllic and very interesting too :)
Terry Tibs (A name that suggests an ethical warrior at heart) if you are concerned about ethics within the finance community you may wish to seek to invest in Sharia styled finance products.
I don't think there are many lenders out there that could be styled as "Ethical" the fact of the matter is the Wonga's and Sunny's of this world were eye wateringly exorbitant. I've read many testimonies where people managed to secure Amigo loans to get out of Wonga & Sunny debts. Lest not us forget that the Church of England was one of the main investors in Wonga. The Church were also offered to "do the ethical thing" to buy Wonga's loan book and lend responsibly to their customers and realised they couldn't do it at such rates due to the risk of default. Therefore when you balance this up the Amigo rate is fair against the level of risk they face in the market. Let's see how many people the "ethical" banks make sub prime and exclude from finance once all of this COVID nonsense has blown over. People who will need to start from scrath to repair their credit files.
Everyone has a different take on ethics. Personally, I believe that they have little place in business. There are always going to be people who look to screw over or otherwise mistreat others. If they're doing it anyway and there's clearly demand for this kind of lending, I'm fine with making some money out of the company offering it. I wouldn't invest in a company that sells guns or cigarettes, but I completely get why some would.
Tibbs - any org willing to loan to high risk borrowers for low rates would not be worth investing in. That would be more like a charity, even Bank overdrafts sit around 40-50% these days. Ethical yes if the applicant needs credit and doesn’t have many options and is properly vetted for affordability along with the guarantor. I’d say its less ethical for borrows to lie on applications for a loan, but that where checks need to be made as many of these folks make desperate and vulnerable. Sadly!!!
I was a director in healthcare communications from its inception in 2000 and left in 2013 as I was a little bored. Sold my 20% stake to buy a kitchen then 6 years later it sold for 11 million Ouch lol And Hav said I can't admit my mistakes
I then ran a pet show for year then set up a health and wellbeing company working with the NHS. got screwed twice and got fed up of working for nothing. I now work for a large healthcare company selling Interoperability software to the NHS.
Move to the country 3 years ago and bought a windmill with 7 acres of woodland attached. The mill is a project and needs a lot a work but was a steal. We now have heating and managed to solve most of the damp and mold issues lol
Being with my wife since I was 17. She is now head of rare diseases UK/I for a Pharma company and we have two dogs. A rottie and newfoundland
Thats me lol
You're right Seamus, I am invested, like everyone I have days where I think i shouldn't have but hopefully things will get better :)
I don't think I back the nasty ones, although i will check back in case I'm wrong. I tend to judge people on the way they behave toward me as well as what they have to say in general.
You sound like you're in a similar situation to me, out in the country and working from home, can't beat with things as they are at the moment, I feel sorry for people who are confined to small flats in built up areas, must be so tough for them.
What kind of work do you do Seamus ?
Terry
Everyone on here will have their own opinion re ethical
What matters to investors is whether or not the FCA see it as ethical and they have asked Amigo to keep lending to key workers and our heroes throughout the last 6 months.
Are they really likely to now say "actually we've been asking an unethical company to lend to the ones that keep us alive"?
A Barclaycard to improve or start your credit rating is 40% and I bet it would be a far greater end sum you paid, to pay off your debt if you paid minimum each month
Bryn
I do think you are invested in Amigo, but been honest also think you back the ones that are just nasty too much
Just look at Hav's last post. I personally don't care if he throws insults my way, as I'm happy in the countryside and like you have plenty of space during lockdown and i've worked from home for years
Terrytibbs' .... the FCA are going to be busy !!! https://www.ft.com/content/2a8f85b0-2d50-4e96-bb32-a61d40aaf2cc According to this, Amigo are not a million miles away on rates, especially bearing in mind that predominantly they are dealing with people with poor credit ratings !
Seamus, Ou tof interest, do you think I have shares in Amigo ? Be honest, I wont be offended.
I didn't have much to do with them if i'm honest, they never bothered me and I never bothered them. There are quite a few intelligent people on this board but they're largely drowned out by the childish chopsy ones :/
Give jimmyg some thought, I think he speaks sense :)
Morning all.
Didn't IKON Finance have a VREQ 2 or 3 years ago and then a massive turnaround to success?
Bryn
I miss Senator and sunset, they were very arrogant but spoke with intelligence unlike Hav and Hound
"This BB needs to be sprayed with insecticide!".....and Gang repellent.
Hi Seamus, I have time for Jimmyg, his posts are well constructed and he clearly knows his onions, I honestly don't think he's here to annoy us although he probably does irritate the blinkered ones on here.
A lot of what he says makes sense and I firmly believe he's invested here.
This BB needs to be sprayed with insecticide!
