Sweden has all the power now to win a court battle hands down! There is no court in the world that would accept BEM argument for a mining licence.
FACT I respect UNESCO 100% they are the good guys if they said this didnt affect the wilderness area then fine. BUT they dont they clearly state this will have negative impacts.
Exactly as I predicted; this is what Baylan wanted all along and no doubt had a helpful contact within UNESCO.
But has He backed himself into a corner? If Kurt Budge has any balls He will now demand an answer and if that answer is 'No' then its off to court to win the case. This is the ONLY way to settle the matter now.
However, expect Baylan to dodge a decision and suggest a refresh of current legislation to take into account bla bla bla etc etc etc etc.
there is NOT one single glimmer of hope in that report. It actually mocks KB and BEM in that it picks holes in the assessments produced by BEM to date.
Heading to 2p in coming months no question!
The Swedish government would be utterly bonkers to pass this based on that report they would look so bad.
So what now scrap Kallak all kurt has is another couple of fantasy plays
Although this feels like it's gone in the Gov's favour, it's actually just made it harder for Baylan. UNESCO are a nobody and have no actual clout on this decision, it was a stalling tactic which succeeded. The Gov still have the problem of making a decision. If it was going to be a yes after all this time, UNESCO have just made it harder and the Gov are going to look worse for it
Come on Kurt a swift response is needed.
Any bets on how long for Baylan to respond, a month ?
Not until a UK company got involved anyway! Now I think it's coming down to greed
Exactly, why haven't they extended the size of the area in 1940 when the area of possible minerals was discovered? Because it was so far out that there wouldn't be an impact!
It's so superficial I just can't believe it.
and of course nothing that couldnt be addressed with development plans. Except of course the absurd statement regarding how reindeer husbandry outside the area affects inside the area.
I agree but it also states that certain considerations were not considerred in the EIA. But why did the govt not come back with issues regarding the EIA. This whole thing is a joke.
Exactly, but I don't expect the government to all of a sudden use common sense and make a decision they will latch onto this report for aslong as they can, even though we all know it's utter garbage and just something to justify the government's long slumber
A massive response of "what ifs" and "potential impact" correct me if I'm wrong but they haven't actually said there WILL be a direct impact on the area. It's all just - this could happen, that could happen kind of
talk. What a big waste of time
Yes, exactly as expected and a complete waste of seven months.
Seems to me they are trying to look at what the environmental permit is for in a lot of the document.
Swedish price dropped then bounced back to where UK is
Exactly as I predicted.
Should have gone legal years ago and UNESCO would not have been involved.
Budge will either resign or get Littorin to send an email.....pfffft
They were never gonna love it were they?
They seem to give a lot of preference to the reindeer and the Sami - interestingly, the courts have taken a different view - so, make a decision - don't care why you say no - let the courts decide!
Hmmm something well and truly stinks.
Last chance to sell at this price until we get down to 2p? I hope Kurt is able to develop an imaginative approach to resolving this one. I'm afraid that the strategy of sitting on your hands simply hasn't worked!
Rune1 - Yep. A disastrous report. More delays, "at minimum, the impact would be moderate-adverse". Thanks for the helpful link btw.
So teh impact of a mine 30km away is high because Reindeer Husbandry outside the zone affects what is inside the zone and the trucking.
This is a con.
We need a swift response from KB
Exactly, bad really. Government will be lapping that up.
Not helpful at all. Did exactly as the government wanted them to
Many thanks, not a helpful report. Wily Swedes on the run.
