WHITBREAD APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Whitbread PLC (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Horst Baier is to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 November 2019. Horst will become a member of Whitbread's Audit Committee.

During his executive career, Horst was a successful and highly regarded Chief Financial Officer in the hotels and leisure sector, having spent 22 years at TUI AG, including more than ten years on the board. He played a key role in the strategic development of TUI AG, through a range of corporate transactions as the company was transformed into a pureplay tourism business.

Commenting on the appointment, Adam Crozier, Chairman, said "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Horst Baier as a Non-Executive Director. Horst has more than two decades of experience in our sector and this, together with his deep understanding of the German market, will be of great benefit to the Whitbread Board as we continue to expand Premier Inn in the UK and Germany".
