Christmas Trading Statement
Majestic Wine PLC
Total UK store sales, for the seven weeks of Christmas trading from 13 November to 31 December 2012, were up 5.1%. Over the same period like for like UK store sales growth was 1.1%. This result brings the like for like UK store sales growth to 0.8% for the first 39 weeks of the financial year.
Steve Lewis, Chief Executive, said:
"While we saw encouraging sales growth over the period, the Christmas trading season was challenging with many consumers leaving their shopping until the very last moment. I would like to thank all those customers who chose to purchase the wine for their Christmas celebrations from Majestic."
