AGM Statement

Lord Marland, chairman for the purposes of the Annual General Meeting of W H Ireland Group plc to be held at 12.30pm today, will make the following announcement to shareholders:

"I am pleased to be able to report that the firm has begun the new financial year benefiting from the restructuring programme which was completed last year, significantly reducing our cost-base. As a result, the business is performing in line with the current market expectations. As we reported in the annual report, market conditions remain challenging but we remain confident that we are well positioned to take advantage of any improved trading activity."
