Appointment of CFO and other senior executives
Velti PlcĀ ('Velti' or 'the Company'), a leading provider of software platforms, applications and services for advertising agencies, mobile operators and media,Ā announcesĀ senior management hires, includingĀ the appointment of WilsonĀ W.Ā CheungĀ as Chief Financial OfficerĀ with effect fromĀ 5 October 2009. Three other senior executive appointments have also been made, namely Mike Walsh as VP of Business Development, Dakota Sullivan as Global VP of Marketing andĀ Greg Bauer asĀ VP,Ā USĀ EastĀ MobileĀ Solutions.
WilsonĀ W.Ā Cheung joins Velti from AXT,Ā Inc.,Ā aĀ NASDAQ-listedĀ semiconductorĀ firmĀ where he has been CFO since 2004.Ā AXT hasĀ more than 1,000-employees with operations in theĀ US, Europe andĀ Asia.Ā Prior toĀ AXT,Ā he held senior financial positions at NASDAQ-listedĀ Yahoo! Inc. and Interwave Communications. AĀ Certified Public Accountant, he has worked as an auditor withĀ Deloitte & ToucheĀ and KPMG. Mr. Cheung has extensive experience in managing finance and operations teams in different geographies in a public company setting and has a strong background in finance, planning, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. He holds a B.A. degree in Economics/Business from theĀ UniversityĀ ofĀ California,Ā Los AngelesĀ and is a certified director of corporate governance from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management.Ā
Mr. Cheung will be based primarily in Europe but will also be spending significant time in Velti's operations in theĀ US; in anticipation of further growth and development, the Company plans to strengthen its finance teams inĀ LondonĀ andĀ San Francisco.Ā
Pantelis Papageorgiou, Finance Director,Ā will step down from the Board on 5 October 2009 but will remain with the Company for the time being.Ā Pantelis has made aĀ significantĀ contribution toĀ the management ofĀ VeltiĀ through a period of very rapid growth and international expansion,Ā whichĀ includedĀ the Company's successfulĀ IPOĀ on AIM,Ā the London Stock Exchange's international market forĀ dynamic,Ā growing companies. We are delighted that he will be staying with the Company to assistĀ WilsonĀ settle into his new role.Ā Ā Mr. Cheung will report to the CEO and will be an observer at Velti's board; there is no information that requires disclosure under AIM Rule 17.

The development of Velti's senior executive team continuesĀ with the appointment ofĀ Mike Walsh inĀ London,Ā Dakota SullivanĀ inĀ San Francisco, Global Marketing, andĀ Greg BauerĀ inĀ New York.
MikeĀ Walsh, VP, Business Development, will be based inĀ London, leading Velti's sales efforts to brands and enterprises. He was previously at advertising agency group Ogilvy & Mather in various senior executive roles, including Director of the Worldwide Board, and Group CEO forĀ UK, Europe, Middle East andĀ Africa, a position he heldĀ for 13 years, where he managed 66 countries. He joined OgilvyĀ in 1983 after 11 years at Young & Rubicam andĀ brings over 33 years of agency experience working with global brands such as Ford, Nestle, GSK, BAT, Air Canada, Spillers Petfoods, Polaroid, American Express, Heinz, Procter and Gamble and Cadbury.Ā MikeĀ is a trusteeĀ and former Vice-ChairmanĀ of the British Red Cross,Ā was a World Trustee of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) andĀ has served as Chairman ofĀ theĀ UK Disasters Emergency Committee, representing 13 of theĀ UK's largest international charities.
DakotaĀ Sullivan, VP, Global Marketing, will be based inĀ San FranciscoĀ and was previously ChiefĀ MarketingĀ Officer for BlueLithium,Ā the online advertising network that pioneeredĀ behavioural targetingĀ until its recent acquisition by Yahoo.Ā Prior to joining BlueLithium,Ā he wasĀ Vice President,Ā Marketing andĀ ChannelĀ Sales at search engine technologyĀ leaderĀ LookSmart.Ā Previously, he wasĀ VP,Ā CreativeĀ Director at Foote, Cone & Belding, a global ad agency, where he managed campaigns for Lucent and AT&T.Ā Ā He alsoĀ co-foundedĀ New YorkĀ interactive advertising agency,Ā BigĀ Island,Ā which was acquired by Marc USA, and served as Vice President, Creative Director for theĀ New YorkĀ office of the global ad agency FCB. He holds a BA in business from theĀ UniversityĀ ofĀ California,Ā Berkeley.
Greg Bauer,Ā VP,Ā USĀ East Mobile Solutions, will be based inĀ New YorkĀ andĀ has been in the media business for more than 25 years.Ā He spent 15 years in publishing with Crain Communications, includingĀ 8Ā withĀ Advertising Age,Ā and has been in digital media for 12 years. After working with Softbank Interactive Marketing and Ticketmaster, he joined NetCharge, aĀ leaderĀ in the Internet payments sector, as its Founding CEO.Ā HeĀ joined Apptera Inc. in 2007Ā where he worked onĀ commercialisingĀ their adĀ platformĀ for theĀ entertainment and retail sectors. He received a BA fromĀ VanderbiltĀ UniversityĀ and completed several Executive Education programs at IBM's Advanced Business Institute andĀ Columbia GraduateĀ School of Business.Ā
