Appointment of CFO and other senior executives
Velti PlcΒ ('Velti' or 'the Company'), a leading provider of software platforms, applications and services for advertising agencies, mobile operators and media,Β announcesΒ senior management hires, includingΒ the appointment of WilsonΒ W.Β CheungΒ as Chief Financial OfficerΒ with effect fromΒ 5 October 2009. Three other senior executive appointments have also been made, namely Mike Walsh as VP of Business Development, Dakota Sullivan as Global VP of Marketing andΒ Greg Bauer asΒ VP,Β USΒ EastΒ MobileΒ Solutions.
WilsonΒ W.Β Cheung joins Velti from AXT,Β Inc.,Β aΒ NASDAQ-listedΒ semiconductorΒ firmΒ where he has been CFO since 2004.Β AXT hasΒ more than 1,000-employees with operations in theΒ US, Europe andΒ Asia.Β Prior toΒ AXT,Β he held senior financial positions at NASDAQ-listedΒ Yahoo! Inc. and Interwave Communications. AΒ Certified Public Accountant, he has worked as an auditor withΒ Deloitte & ToucheΒ and KPMG. Mr. Cheung has extensive experience in managing finance and operations teams in different geographies in a public company setting and has a strong background in finance, planning, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. He holds a B.A. degree in Economics/Business from theΒ UniversityΒ ofΒ California,Β Los AngelesΒ and is a certified director of corporate governance from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management.Β
Mr. Cheung will be based primarily in Europe but will also be spending significant time in Velti's operations in theΒ US; in anticipation of further growth and development, the Company plans to strengthen its finance teams inΒ LondonΒ andΒ San Francisco.Β
Pantelis Papageorgiou, Finance Director,Β will step down from the Board on 5 October 2009 but will remain with the Company for the time being.Β Pantelis has made aΒ significantΒ contribution toΒ the management ofΒ VeltiΒ through a period of very rapid growth and international expansion,Β whichΒ includedΒ the Company's successfulΒ IPOΒ on AIM,Β the London Stock Exchange's international market forΒ dynamic,Β growing companies. We are delighted that he will be staying with the Company to assistΒ WilsonΒ settle into his new role.Β Β Mr. Cheung will report to the CEO and will be an observer at Velti's board; there is no information that requires disclosure under AIM Rule 17.

The development of Velti's senior executive team continuesΒ with the appointment ofΒ Mike Walsh inΒ London,Β Dakota SullivanΒ inΒ San Francisco, Global Marketing, andΒ Greg BauerΒ inΒ New York.
MikeΒ Walsh, VP, Business Development, will be based inΒ London, leading Velti's sales efforts to brands and enterprises. He was previously at advertising agency group Ogilvy & Mather in various senior executive roles, including Director of the Worldwide Board, and Group CEO forΒ UK, Europe, Middle East andΒ Africa, a position he heldΒ for 13 years, where he managed 66 countries. He joined OgilvyΒ in 1983 after 11 years at Young & Rubicam andΒ brings over 33 years of agency experience working with global brands such as Ford, Nestle, GSK, BAT, Air Canada, Spillers Petfoods, Polaroid, American Express, Heinz, Procter and Gamble and Cadbury.Β MikeΒ is a trusteeΒ and former Vice-ChairmanΒ of the British Red Cross,Β was a World Trustee of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) andΒ has served as Chairman ofΒ theΒ UK Disasters Emergency Committee, representing 13 of theΒ UK's largest international charities.
DakotaΒ Sullivan, VP, Global Marketing, will be based inΒ San FranciscoΒ and was previously ChiefΒ MarketingΒ Officer for BlueLithium,Β the online advertising network that pioneeredΒ behavioural targetingΒ until its recent acquisition by Yahoo.Β Prior to joining BlueLithium,Β he wasΒ Vice President,Β Marketing andΒ ChannelΒ Sales at search engine technologyΒ leaderΒ LookSmart.Β Previously, he wasΒ VP,Β CreativeΒ Director at Foote, Cone & Belding, a global ad agency, where he managed campaigns for Lucent and AT&T.Β Β He alsoΒ co-foundedΒ New YorkΒ interactive advertising agency,Β BigΒ Island,Β which was acquired by Marc USA, and served as Vice President, Creative Director for theΒ New YorkΒ office of the global ad agency FCB. He holds a BA in business from theΒ UniversityΒ ofΒ California,Β Berkeley.
Greg Bauer,Β VP,Β USΒ East Mobile Solutions, will be based inΒ New YorkΒ andΒ has been in the media business for more than 25 years.Β He spent 15 years in publishing with Crain Communications, includingΒ 8Β withΒ Advertising Age,Β and has been in digital media for 12 years. After working with Softbank Interactive Marketing and Ticketmaster, he joined NetCharge, aΒ leaderΒ in the Internet payments sector, as its Founding CEO.Β HeΒ joined Apptera Inc. in 2007Β where he worked onΒ commercialisingΒ their adΒ platformΒ for theΒ entertainment and retail sectors. He received a BA fromΒ VanderbiltΒ UniversityΒ and completed several Executive Education programs at IBM's Advanced Business Institute andΒ Columbia GraduateΒ School of Business.Β
