IntelliSAW Update

IntelliSAW thermal sensors deployed at new state-of-the-art steel plant in China

Transense Technologies plc ("Transense" or the "Company") (AIM: TRT), the provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that its trading division, IntelliSAW, a leading provider of next generation wireless sensor systems for smart grid applications, is the provider of thermal monitoring systems for critical asset monitoring of 340 switchgears at the soon to be completed, state-of-the-art, Fuxin Special Steel Company (FSSC)'s plant in the Zhangzhou Longchi Development Zone of Fujian Province, near Xiamen, China.

This is the first fit out of an entire facility with IntelliSAW sensors. The IS485 systems will help ensure a reliable and safe supply of electric power throughout the site by continuously monitoring 2000+ critical points inside the switchgears, thus helping to protect a $2.2B investment by FSSC in constructing the factory.

The IS485 thermal monitoring systems have been integrated into 340 medium voltage switchgear manufactured by Nan Ya Switchgear in cooperation with IntelliSAW's integration partner, ETT, a system integrator and supplier of power conditioning, control and monitoring equipment for the electric power industry based in Taipei City, Taiwan. The switchgear has been installed at the site by Nan Ya Switchgear, a division of Formosa Plastics Group ("FPG").

The Company believes the prospects for further orders via ETT to be extremely positive, and has recently secured a further order from the distributor.

IntelliSAW continues to make strong progress. Recent highlights include an order from Al Mashariq, IntelliSAW's Saudi distributor, marking the first major contract win in that region.

Five new pilots have either begun or will commence within the coming weeks, spread across the United States, China, Abu Dhabi and South Korea, taking the total number of pilots to fifteen.

Six new distributors have been appointed in the Benelux region, Poland, Israel, Egypt, Indonesia and the Philippines, expanding to sixteen the Company's global network of distribution partners for IntelliSAW.

Graham Storey, CEO of Transense, commented:

"The scale of this new installations is very encouraging both in terms of potential for further volume sales by IntelliSAW and the confidence shown by both FPG and Nan Ya Switchgear in selecting and widely deploying the IS485 technology.

"We continue to be confident about developing prospects for exploiting Transense's sensor expertise through its trading divisions IntelliSAW and Translogik, in conjunction with our growing number of partners and licensees."

About ETT

ETT is a system integrator and supplier of power conditioning, control and monitoring equipment for the electric power industry. Based in Taipei City, Taiwan, ETT has been a distributor for IntelliSAW since July 2011.

About IntelliSAW

IntelliSAW, a trading division of Transense Technologies plc (AIM: TRT.L), develops and markets patent protected wireless, passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) based sensing systems targeted at challenging industrial applications. Its IS485 family of products provides temperature monitoring of critical electric power switchgear equipment in Smart Grid applications.

IntelliSAW's proprietary solution is wireless and does not require any power to the sensors, affording ease of installation and system commissioning while avoiding introducing any arcing or flashover concerns. Moreover the IntelliSAW system outputs data directly onto existing communication networks using standard protocols, allowing for instantaneous monitoring and control.

The IS485 platform brings an advanced feature set as compared to legacy solutions on the market today, including twelve independent sensor frequencies and four antenna connections per reader which combined allow for up to 48 sensors per system. Further innovative advances in interrogation protocols, differential sensor topology, and microcontroller architecture serve to resolve a number of known issues with existing solutions including sensor drop-out, challenging system set-up processes, positional dependence of sensor calibration, and non-compliance to high voltage application environments.
