John joined System C as a NonExecutive Director in February 2005. He graduated with an MA from CambridgeUniversity and a DPhil from Oxford University. In 1984 he joined Marconi DefenceSystems as Technical Director and later became Director of Engineering at theIndependent Broadcasting Authority. He led the privatisation to create thecommunications company NTL, becoming its first Chief Executive. In 1996 hejoined the venture capital company, 3i plc, and served on the board and itsassociated committees until 2004. John is Chairman of Mediwatch plc andPro-Chancellor of the University of Surrey.
