FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
11Β SeptemberΒ 2008 |
AURUM MINING PLC
("Aurum" or "the Company")
Update
Aurum Mining plcΒ (AIM: AUR)Β is giving a furtherΒ update to the market following the announcementsΒ made on 19, 28Β AugustΒ and 3 SeptemberΒ 2008,Β inΒ which it was announced that it had reached a settlement with the plaintiff in the civil case in which the Company's wholly ownedΒ subsidiaries Andash Mining CompanyΒ (AMC)Β and Kaldora Company Limited were named as co-defendants.
The Bishkek Inter-District Court of Kyrgyzstan has suspended proceedingsΒ in the civil caseΒ on a technical issue. Under Kyrgyz law, aΒ judge can grant a temporary suspensionΒ on a caseΒ whileΒ itΒ awaitsΒ expert adviceΒ on key aspectsΒ ofΒ that case or where the groundsΒ in the caseΒ are not clear enough for an immediate judgement to be made.
However, andΒ a measure of goodwill towards AMC, the judge lifted theΒ financialΒ injunction that wasΒ previously imposed by the court.Β The court recognised that the delay in closing the case was havingΒ a materialΒ impact on the operations of AMC and as a direct result of this rulingΒ AMC is now able to recommence its day to day activities inΒ Kyrgyzstan.
A further announcement will be made in due course.
Mark JonesΒ the Chief Executive Officer stated:
The process of having the case closedΒ in the Bishkek CourtsΒ is taking longer then we had hoped, however discussions with the authorities are positive, and as shown by the lifting of the injunctionΒ the courtΒ understandsΒ the importance of resuming normal activities as soon as possible.
