SCOTT WILSON APPOINTED BY COSTAIN TOΒ MANCHESTERΒ WASTE PFI
Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Group"), the international design and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, is pleased to announce thatΒ it has entered into a contract with Costain to provide multi-disciplinary services for the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) PFI project.Β
The value of the contract to Scott Wilson is expected to beΒ in excess of Β£10 million over four years and includes architectural, civil and structural, building services, geotechnical and geoenvironmental, planning and licensing, landscaping and acoustics services.Β
The PFI project,Β led by a Viridor and John Laing joint venture, was announced last December andΒ isΒ Europe's largest waste management deal. ItΒ includes waste collection and processing facilities across 28 sites within Greater Manchester.Β Scott Wilson has been involved in the design of the scheme for the last 12 months after receiving advanced work instructions to progress with the early sites. The project is due for completion in January 2012.Β

This is the thirdΒ major waste treatment contract for Scott Wilson, following itsΒ successful delivery of Lancashire Waste PFI and theΒ earlier appointment to the Derbyshire waste treatment PPP.Β On Derbyshire Waste,Β Scott Wilson continues to support a United Utilities and Interserve Project Services Joint Venture, the named preferred bidder, with multi-disciplinary design services in a contract worth Β£2.6m.Β
