Charitable Contribution

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ("SEC") announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the following contributions.

Contribution for Special Disaster Area in Pohang (Hope Bridge - Korea Disaster Relief Association)

- SEC will contribute KRW 3 billion to recovery efforts in Pohang and assistance for people affected by the earthquake.

Contribution for 2018 Winter Fundraising Campaign (Community Chest of Korea)

- SEC will contribute KRW 20.1 billion to the year-end fundraising campaign to help underprivileged people in furtherance of our

corporate social responsibilities.

Other matters to consider when making investment decision

- The Board of Directors approved this action at the meeting held on November 24, 2017.
