COMS LAUNCHES FIRST iPHONE APPLICATION
Coms plc has today launched its first iPhone application ("app") which enables users of the Coms internet telephony service to connect and control their Coms account from their iPhone. After acceptance testing by Apple, the Coms app is now available for download from Apple's iTunes store.
The initial functionality enables users of the Coms service to redirect calls from their iPhone to wherever they are located. This is particularly useful during holiday periods as calls can selectively and cheaply be rerouted to mobile phones and other domestic and international destinations.
This is the first release in Coms' app development strategy that will fully integrate smartphones with the Coms unified communications platform. The Company is working on additional features that will bring live audio and video functionality to the iPhone app, as well as migrating it to other smartphones, including those that use Google's Android operating system.
Richard Bennett, the Company's CEO, commented, "Integrating smartphones with the Coms internet telephony service will further differentiate us from fixed line telephone operators and enable us to win more business customers. Advanced internet enabled voice and video features not only save business customers money, they also increase workplace productivity.
