Update regarding Energia del Sur, S.A.
Further to the announcement of 12 April 2017, the Directors of Rurelec (AIM:RUR), the owner, operator and developer of power generation capacity in South America, have been informed that engineers at EDS have managed to source unused equipment held as strategic spares by a third party which they believe can be engineered to fit the EDS power plant. Once installed and connected, which is expected to occur before mid-May, the plant as a whole will be tested and generating operations resumed. There is a risk, however, that the testing could reveal secondary damage to other areas of the plant as a result of the unplanned rapid shutdown when the incident happened. As the situation is dynamic, the Directors still cannot be certain of the financial impact, if any, that the unscheduled power outage will have on Rurelec, but consider the latest development to be positive.
A further announcement will be made as necessary.
