The month was characterised byvolatile markets as currency, equity, energy, metals and bond sectors becamesusceptible to fluctuating price trends, implying mixed investor sentimentacross the board. Profits were secured in the event driven style as companyevents proved beneficial. In addition, distressed models were able to make gainsfrom volatility in the auto sector while one manager capitalized on theunderperformance of high yield securities. The variable equity style boostedreturns as long positions in small caps and exposure to the biotech and healthsectors all proved profitable. However, losses from the commodity & tradingstyle trimmed performance as trends reversed in the energy, sugar and basemetals markets.
