Board changes
KBC announces that Mike Kirk, who has served as a non-executive director of KBC for nine years, intends to retire from the board as of 31 December 2013. In preparation for this retirement, the Board has appointed Paul Taylor as Chairman of the Audit Committee. At the same time, Paul also takes over as the Senior Independent Director and has agreed to become Deputy Chairman, a new role created to support the Executive Chairman, Ian Godden.
As previously announced, the Group continues to search for a new non-executive director to replace Mike and to enhance the Board's experience in international oil and gas operations. The Board hopes to be in a position to announce an appointment in early 2014.
Mike has been a great asset to the Board during his tenure, being a strong and steady advisor to the Company through periods of significant change and growth and a major contributor as Chairman of the Audit Committee and previously Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
Executive Chairman, Ian Godden, commented:
