New appointments to the Board of Hochschild Mining plc 

The Board of Directors of Hochschild Mining plc ("Hochschild") today announces the appointments of Miguel Aramburú, Chief Executive Officer, and Ignacio Rosado, Chief Financial Officer, to the Board, with effect from 1 January 2009. 

Miguel Aramburú joined Hochschild in 1995, when he was appointed General Manager of Compania Minera Pativilca, a previously owned subsidiary of the Group. Miguel was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2002 and General Manager of the Mining Division in 2005. Prior to his current role as CEO, Miguel served as the Group's Chief Operating Officer. He graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in 1987 in Industrial Engineering and has an MBA from Stanford University. 

Ignacio Rosado has been the Chief Financial Officer of Hochschild since 2005. Prior to this, he was Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company from 2000 to 2005. Ignacio has an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School and a BSc in Economics from the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru. Ignacio is also one of Hochschild's representatives on the Board of Lake Shore Gold Corp., a Toronto listed gold company, in which Hochschild has a 40% interest.

Eduardo Hochschild, Executive Chairman of Hochschild Mining plc, commented:

Miguel Aramburú and Ignacio Rosado have been with the company for a number of years and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Board. This step formalizes the contribution that they already make as CEO and CFO and ensures that as the business grows and develops, the Board has the appropriate skills to effectively advance the Group's strategy".

The company confirms that there are no further disclosures to be made in accordance with paragraph 9.6.13R of the UKLA Listing Rules.
