Drilling and Development Update

Oil column confirmed in Silverton 16-10 well

New discovery confirms Arikaree Creek Field extension

Nighthawk, the US focused oil development and production company (AIM: HAWK and OTCQX: NHEGY), announces an update on the drilling and development of the Arikaree Creek oilfield at its 100% controlled and operated Smoky Hill project in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, Colorado.

Highlights

·; Logging and testing of the Silverton 16-10 well has confirmed an oil column in the Mississippian Spergen formation

·; The pay zone is consistent in characteristics to the three existing producing wells in the field and confirms the southward extension of Arikaree Creek into a larger fault-bounded structure

·; Completion work on the Silverton 16-10 well is underway with first production expected in early July 2013

·; The Snowbird 9-15 well has been drilled and logged with initial analysis indicating potential pay in the Mississippian Spergen formation. Further logging and testing of the well is underway

Arikaree Creek Development

Silverton 16-10 Well

The Silverton 16-10 well has been drilled to a measured depth of 8,450 feet and the well has been logged, cased and tested, and work is underway to complete the well for production. Data from the logging and testing identified 24 feet of gross oil pay interval at 8,100 feet in the target formation of the Mississippian Spergen. The pay interval identified appears to be slightly thinner but similar in characteristics to the productive intervals in the Steamboat Hansen 8-10, Big Sky 4-11 and Taos 1-10 wells, all of which are in production and making no water.

The Silverton 16-10 well is located close to, and due south, of the Arikaree Creek discovery well, the Steamboat Hansen 8-10. Structurally the well is on the south side of a clearly identified fault line which separates it from the three existing wells on Arikaree Creek. The confirmation of an oil column in this location opens up the extension of Arikaree Creek to the south into a significantly larger fault-bounded structure.

The Silverton 16-10 well will produce into the Steamboat Hansen 8-10 topside facilities and work is underway to tie-in production from the well into these facilities. The Company expects production to commence in early July 2013.

Logs from the Silverton 16-10 well have also confirmed a number of stacked pay opportunities up-hole from the Mississippian, with particularly strong oil and gas indications in the Cherokee horizon.

Snowbird 9-15 Well

The Snowbird 9-15 well has been drilled to a measured depth of 8,480 feet and a full suite of logs has been run. Full analysis of the logging data is underway but early indications show a potential 25 feet of gross oil column at around 8,050 feet in the Mississippian Spergen formation. Further analysis and testing will be required to confirm the characteristics of this discovery and its commercial potential.

The Snowbird 9-15 well is located one mile south of the Silverton 16-10 well and was drilled with the objective of establishing the extent of the oil column in this southerly extension of Arikaree Creek.

Further Development

The results from the Silverton 16-10 well have confirmed the oil column to the south of the existing producing wells and early indications suggest it may extend to the Snowbird 9-15 location. The Company believes the potential upside for reserves in Arikaree Creek is considerable and that full development of the field is likely to require multiple producing wells. Following the completion of this current phase of drilling, Nighthawk will commission a new Competent Person Report and will continue the planning and permitting process for further drilling and 3D seismic programs and anticipates being in a position to resume development drilling in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Stephen Gutteridge, Chairman of Nighthawk, commented:

"The confirmation of an oil column in the Silverton 16-10 well is hugely significant for the potential upside in the Arikaree Creek oilfield. The three previous discoveries are all located on a relatively narrow fault-bounded structure. The Silverton well has now confirmed the southward extension of the oil column into a larger structure, covering potentially six times the acreage of the smaller fault-bounded block. If the Snowbird 9-15 appraisal well confirms that the oil column extends significantly further to the south, then the implications for production and reserves are very positive."

Chuck Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Nighthawk, who has over 32 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and meets the criteria of qualified persons under the AIM guidance note for mining and oil and gas companies, has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in this announcement.
