Drilling and Production Update

Big Sky 12-11 and John Craig 1-2 wells commence production

 

Nighthawk, the US focused oil development and production company (AIM: HAWK and OTCQX: NHEGY), announces an update on drilling and production at its 100% controlled and operated Smoky Hill and Jolly Ranch projects in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, Colorado.

 

Highlights

 

· Big Sky 12-11 and John Craig 1-2 wells commenced production in December 2013

 

· Gross oil production over last ten days of December 2013 averaged 1,753 barrels per day ("bbls/day")

 

· Average gross oil production in month of December 2013 of 1,556 bbls/day

 

· Gross oil production in the full year 2013 of 364,968 barrels (average 1,000 bbls/day), a tenfold increase on full year 2012

 

· Big Sky 14-11 well at Arikaree Creek currently undergoing completion in Mississippian formation

 

· Telluride 13-2 well to be completed in Pennsylvanian formation

 

· Drilling program continues with Jackson Hole 1-32 well north-west of Arikaree Creek and the Big Sky 13-11 well at Arikaree Creek

The John Craig 1-2 well commenced production on 16 December 2013 followed by the Big Sky 12-11 well on 22 December 2013. These two wells are currently contributing a combined production of 300 bbls/day, resulting in total gross production increasing to an average of 1,753 bbls/day since the Big Sky 12-11 commenced production.

 

The Big Sky 12-11 well is performing ahead of expectations and further clean-up work on the John Craig 1-2 well is planned with the objective of increasing production from this well.

 

Gross oil production for the full year of 2013 was 364,968 barrels compared to 31,492 barrels in the full year 2012, a tenfold increase.

 

Big Sky 14-11 Well

 

Completion of the Big Sky 14-11 well is currently underway in the Mississippian formation. Analysis of the core and initial testing has confirmed an oil-bearing zone that is thinner than other Arikaree Creek producing wells and with slightly different characteristics, suggesting that this well may lie close to the eastern extent of the Arikaree Creek field.

 

Telluride 13-2 Well

 

The Telluride 13-2 well was drilled to a depth of 8,210 feet. The well has been logged and is currently waiting on the completion rig. Log analysis indicates that the Pennsylvanian formations in this well are more promising than the targeted Mississippian formation so initial completion will be in the Pennsylvanian. The Pennsylvanian formations have looked promising in all Arikaree Creek wells drilled by the Company and this is the first well in which they will be tested. A successful result will open up the potential for significant new opportunities for the future development of Arikaree Creek.

 

Jackson Hole 1-32 Well

 

The Jackson Hole 1-32 well spudded on 23 December 2013. The well is currently being cored.

 

Big Sky 13-11

 

Following completion of drilling operations at the Jackson Hole 1-32 well the drilling rig will be moved back to Arikaree Creek and drilling of the Big Sky 13-11 well is expected to commence within the next two weeks.
