London, 3rd February 2012: Gulfsands Petroleum plc ("Gulfsands", the "Group" or the "Company" - AIM: GPX), the oil and gas production, exploration and development company with activities in Syria, Iraq, Tunisia, Italy and the U.S.A., announces a purchase of shares by Andrew West, Chairman of the Company.
Mr. West has on 3rd February purchased 17,500 shares in the Company at a price of 179 pence per share and notified the Company on the same day.
Following this purchase Mr. West will have a shareholding of 140,144 shares and also 1,000,000 options.
