Block Listing Review and Block Admission

Gemfields plc ("Gemfields" or "the Company", AIM: "GEM") announces that an application has been made by the Company to the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange plc for an increase in its existing Employee Share Option Scheme block listing by the block admission of up to 2,210,000 common shares which may be issued pursuant to the exercise of options in the Company's Employee Share Option Scheme into 2,210,000 common shares of the Company. 1,950,000.00 of these share options were granted on 11 February 2009 to Mr. Ian Harebottle, Chief Executive Officer, as part of his long-term incentive package. The options granted to Mr. Harebottle have a 10 year term and were granted in three tranches of 650,000 options exercisable at 0.15; 0.25 and 0.35 and vest in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.
