Asia Energy PLC21 February 2006 Asia Energy PLC ("Asia Energy" or "the Company") Update on Government of Bangladesh Approval For Phulbari Coal Project Asia Energy said today that the Company has been advised that the TechnicalCommittee of Experts, appointed to review the Scheme of Development andFeasibility Study for the Phulbari Coal Project, has been requested to reportback to the Government of Bangladesh by the end of this week. Under the terms ofits contract with the Government, the Company lodged the Scheme document on 2October 2005 triggering a three months review period which was extended. TheGovernment will assess the report of the Technical Committee and a furtherannouncement is expected in due course.
