Asia Energy PLC10 November 2005 ASIA ENERGY PLC NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED Asia Energy Plc ('Asia Energy or the 'Company') announced today that it hasappointed Mr Gary Norman Lye, to the Board as an Executive Director and ChiefOperating Officer of the Company to broaden the top management team inpreparation for the commencement of its Phulbari coal mine. Mr Lye, aged 52, has been working on the development of Asia Energy's open pitcoal mine at Phulbari in Northwest Bangladesh for the past 2 years. He iscurrently the Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Operations, based in Dhaka,and will continue to maintain this position. "Gary's promotion reflects the key role he has played in producing thefeasibility studies for the Phulbari Coal Project," said David Lenigas, AsiaEnergy's joint Managing Director. "He will bring to the board additionalexpertise in open pit mining and a focused understanding of the operationalissues in Bangladesh." Exploratory drilling has confirmed a resource at Phulbari of 572 million tonnesof high quality bituminous coal, and a Scheme of Development and FeasibilityStudy for the mine was submitted to the Government of Bangladesh on 2 October2005. Mr Lye has a Master of Science (Mining) Degree from Imperial College, London anda Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree from Queensland University, Australia. Heis a member of AUSIMM (Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy). He has experience in the management of large-scale mining projects havingpreviously served as the Strategic Mine Development Manager at the KalgoorlieSuper Pit Operations in Western Australia, for Kalgoorlie Consolidated GoldMines. His other major roles include Manager of the Mining Research Laboratoriesfor CRA in Perth Western Australia, and 15 years at CRA's Bougainville CopperMine in Papua New Guinea. From 2000-2003 Mr Lye served as a board member of theWestern Australian Government's Gold Fields Esperance Development Commission.
