Genlec achieves CE Certification for full microCHP Kingston Boiler

Energetix Group plc, (AIM: EGX), which develops and commercialises alternative and efficient energy products, announces that its subsidiary Energetix Genlec Limited ("the Company") has achieved CE certification for its fully integrated high efficiency microCHP Kingston condensing boiler incorporating the power module.

This follows the CE certification received in January 2011 for the boiler unit. As a result of this, the Kingston appliance can now be put into field trials as a full microCHP system, updating the appliances that have been in field trials as boilers (without the power module) since early this year.

Kingston is a fully integrated microCHP boiler appliance that can now be deployed in live operating conditions. The boilers can be installed into domestic dwellings for use in the ordinary course of heat and hot water operations, and whilst doing so also provide electricity to the house. The Company expects trials with customers to be undertaken for the upcoming winter heating season, as well as being tested by utility partners at the same time.

The certification process has been conducted in the UK by BSI, a global leader in the provision of product certification, technical standards and testing and Enertek International a specialist gas appliance development and test organisation.

The Kingston boiler can generate up to a 1kW of electricity when the boiler is operating and the Directors believe that this will translate into an annual saving of around £200 on the electricity bills for an average home. This would be in addition to up to £225 a year that the Energy Saving Trust estimates a household would save if an inefficient G-rated boiler was replaced with an "A" rated model.

With ever increasing fuel bills, the move towards greener and cleaner energy is continuing at pace and increasing statutory and regulatory support should further improve the opportunities for the Kingston microCHP boiler."

Genlec has developed a compact and light weight, wall mounted microCHP (Combined Heat and Power) appliance known as the Kingston Boiler. The appliance has been designed to generate 1kW of electrical power and meet the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) requirements to enable access to the Government's feed in tariff. The Kingston boiler is inherently low-cost in initial outlay and maintenance, and UK owners of approved microCHP products have the additional benefit of receiving a 10p/ kWh feed-in tariff on every kWh of electricity generated.

CE certification of the boiler incorporating the power module has been obtained and initial units have been installed in employee homes. Genlec will carry on field testing whilst continuing market engagement through multiple channel partners to continue commercial sales and establish a basis for growth from 2012.

Pnu Power focuses on the provision of compressed air back-up power which can ensure an uninterruptible power supply for critical systems, particularly for the telecoms and power network markets. Pnu Power range has been extended to include the DC100 product that can now meet the demand of the rapidly growing Green Data Centre market, providing a low carbon alternative to flywheels. Pnu Power has been successful in achieving repeat trial sales and is now poised to move out of the trial sales phase and into full volume commercial sales.
