Dignity plc, the UK's only listed provider of funeral related services, announces that James Wilson, non-executive director, has stepped down from the Board with immediate effect. This follows the General Meeting held on 22 April 2021 and is in line with commitments made by Phoenix UK Fund Limited ("Phoenix") regarding the future composition of the Board. The Board has already commenced the process to recruit three new non-executive directors, including a new Chairman.
Commenting on the change, Gary Channon, Executive Chairman of Dignity plc, said:
"James has made a significant contribution during his time on the board including the introduction of the promising trials in the funeral division and I'd like to thank him for his tireless and unpaid efforts. He will continue his strategy work. As Phoenix has always stated, it does not seek to control the board of Dignity and we have now engaged external advisers to help recruit experienced candidates which will result in a board with a majority of independent directors."
