CQS Natural Resources Growth and Income - Annual Overview from QuotedData

Poised for the starting gun

Following a very strong period of outperformance for the commodities and natural resources sector, the last 18 months have been more challenging. However, barring the odd wobble, inflation and interest rates look to be past their peaks. This puts the sector in a strong position to outperform once again, particularly once the attractive valuations on offer are factored in (metals and mining are trading at a 25% discount to broader global equities, while energy is on a 41% discount - see pages 4 and 5).

CQS Natural Resources Growth and Income (CYN), which has provided strong returns relative to its peer group and relevant indices over three and five years (see pages 16 to 19), is well placed to capture this, as the small-and-mid-cap producers in which it tends to invest should benefit disproportionately. In the meantime, with a dividend yield of 3.0% and strong revenue generation, this year's dividend looks likely to be covered and investors are paid to wait. CYN's mid-teens discount to net asset value (NAV) offers comfort too.
