Concurrent Technologies PLC13 April 2005 Concurrent Technologies Plc Product Launch Improved Switched Fabric Board for the Telecommunications Sector Concurrent Technologies Plc (AIM: CNC), a leading manufacturer of high-endembedded computer products for critical applications in the defence,transportation, communications and industrial markets, announces the launch ofits latest single board computer, the FP 110/008, which complements Concurrent'sexisting CompactPCI range. This is primarily aimed at the telecommunicationsmarket with typical applications including networking equipment, VoIP(Voice-over IP) telephony systems and blade based servers. This product canalso be used in high data throughput defence and scientific VME basedapplications. The FP 110/008 is an "unmanaged" embedded Ethernet switching product providingten bi-directional ports each operating at very fast giga-Hertz data rates whilesimultaneously offering network security features and the ability to monitor andreport on its own "health". The principal advantages of the product are its high reliability and low powerconsumption (under 16 Watts) together with its ability to provide high datatransfer rates. It also incorporates industry standard LAN-based networkingtechniques which allow for simplified intercommunication between boards,particularly where different operating systems and CPU architectures areemployed within the same system. High-availability telecoms applications willalso benefit from the product's ability to support its own insertion and removalfrom an operational computer system without switching the system off.
