Drilling Report

15 Jan 2007 08:21

Berkeley Resources Limited15 January 2007 15 January 2007 FIRST DRILL HOLE CONFIRMS RETORTILLO MINERALISATION Including 13.8m grading 0.216% U3O8 from 19.4m The Directors of Berkeley Resources Limited (AIM: BKY.L) are pleased to advisethe results of the first confirmatory drill hole at the Company's Retortillodeposit in Salamanca Province, Spain. Vertical diamond core hole RTO-001 is located within the best area ofmineralisation, approximately equidistant from four diamond holes drilled byprevious explorers on a 50m x50m grid. It was completed to a depth of 97mimmediately prior to the Christmas/New Year break. Assay results include the following intersections at a 0.02% U3O8 cut-off: 19.4m to 33.2m - 13.8m @ 0.216% U3O8 46.8m to 52.0m - 5.2m @ 0.073% U3O8 67.0m to 73.0m - 6.0m @ 0.095% U3O8 These results are an encouraging start to the validation of previous diamond andRC drilling of the deposit and appear to better those from the surrounding fourholes. However, they should not be considered representative of mineralisationthroughout the deposit. SUBSTANTIAL FURTHER DRILLING IS REQUIRED TO TEST THE EXTENT, CONTINUITY ANDTENOR OF MINERALISATION, AND THE DIRECTORS STRONGLY ADVISE CAUTION ININTERPRETING THESE INITIAL RESULTS. A drill plan follows setting out the location of hole RTO-001, as well asmineralised and non-mineralised diamond and RC holes from previous explorationat Retortillo. Hole details include: • Collar Coordinates: 719318mE, 4520538mN 743mRL (UTM 29N ED50 datum) • Inclination: -90degrees • Final Depth: 97.0m • Water Table: 20.3m The hole was geologically and radiometrically logged before being sampled (1/4core) at approximately 1m intervals (intervals varying from 0.5 to 1.5m based ongeology) for the zone between 1.6m and 97m downhole. Duplicate 1/4 core samplesand blank samples were included in the samples which were assayed for totaluranium by the Delayed Neutron Count (DNC) method at Activation LaboratoriesLimited in Ontario, Canada. Measured recoveries were good and averaged 92% over the entire hole. The geology consisted of: 0.00 - 1.60m Tertiary cover 1.60 - 16.60m Strongly weathered shales 16.60 - 39.80m Weathered grey shales with FeOx throughout + py from 24.6m. Visible torbenite, meta-autinite, pitchblende on fractures 39.80 - 62.00m Grey-black sheared (sericite) shales with disseminated and vein pyrite - fault at 52.0 - 53.7m 62.00 - 67.00 Late fractured grey-black shales as above 67.00 - 88.00m Competent shales with quartz-chlorite +/- pyrite 88.00 - 97.00m As above with late fractures and talc on fractures The mineralisation appears to be associated with current and past water tablesand with the more carbonaceous shale units. Subsequent to the New Year, two diamond drill rigs are now operating, with over5,000m of drilling planned at and around Retortillo in this campaign. The technical content of this report has been reviewed and approved by MrPeter Ellis, a Member of The Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy andan employee of Berkeley Resources Limited. Mr Ellis has sufficient experiencewhich is relevant to the style of mineralisation and type of deposit underconsideration and to the activity which he is undertaking to qualify as aCompetent Person as defined in the 2004 Edition of the 'Australasian Code forReporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves'. Mr Ellisconsents to the inclusion in the report of the matters based on his informationin the form and context in which it appears.
