ArmorGroup International plc10 April 2007 ArmorGroup International plc Significant extension of UK Government contract in Afghanistan ArmorGroup International plc, the leading international provider of protectivesecurity services, today reports it has been awarded a $9.5 million extension inthe provision of security services it provides to the UK Government inAfghanistan. The initial contract, which the Group announced on 29 November 2006, was wortharound $30 million per annum, but due to additional requirements agreed duringthe transitional process this contract has now been increased to $38.5 millionper annum. ArmorGroup has also been awarded a $1 million contract to provide police mentorsand advisers in Helmand Province for at least eight months. The main contract started on 1 January 2007 and ArmorGroup now provides the UKGovernment with three distinct services in Afghanistan: - Static guard services. Former Gurkha soldiers and Afghan guards protecting personnel and assets at a number of sites including the British Embassy and British Council Compound in Kabul. - Mobile security services. Operationally experienced and SIA-accredited Close Protection officers protecting UK Government employees as they move around Afghanistan. - Police mentoring services. Former British police officers will be providing mentoring and consultancy services to the Afghan National Police.
