ArmorGroup International plc04 September 2007 ArmorGroup International plc Awarded $5.6 million mine action contract in Sudan ArmorGroup International plc, the leading international provider of protectivesecurity services, today announces that it has been awarded a $5.6 millioncontract by the United Nations Office for Project Services ("UNOPS") to carry aout further general mine action assessment and technical survey programme insupport of the UN's mission in Southern Sudan. ArmorGroup mine action teams have been supporting the Southern Regional MineAction Office since July last year when it was awarded a one year contract tocarry out a land mine survey and clearance programme. As a result of thatprogramme over 5 million square metres of road and the surrounding area wassurveyed, 1.2 million square metres was cleared and almost 9,500 mines and itemsof unexploded ordnance were identified and destroyed. The contract is for one year from 1 August with a phased deployment of manpowerup to full strength by mid-September. ArmorGroup's teams will again be deployedin support of the United Nations' Southern Regional Mine Action Office in Juba,with operations primarily being conducted to survey areas, roads and minefieldsin and around Juba, Wau and Malakal. ArmorGroup expects to redeploy asubstantial team which will include 194 African, European and Sudanese surveyorsand support staff. ArmorGroup has offered mine action and weapons reduction services togovernmental, commercial and humanitarian organisations since 1994 and its teamshave operated in over 22 countries.
