Altona Resources PLC12 April 2006 12th April 2006 Altona Resources Plc ("Altona" or "The Company") OPERATIONAL UPDATE Altona Resources plc (AIM: ANR) announce an operational update as to thecontinued progress in the Jacob Consultancy's coal-to-oil feasibility study andthe presentation of the Company's Arckaringa development proposals to the SouthAustralian Minister for Mineral Resources Development. Jacobs coal-to-oil feasibility study The first phase of the Jacobs Consultancy coal to oil feasability study has nowbeen completed and indicates that power generation can be produced in additionto petroleum products. A co-generation plant producing approximately 15,000 bbl/d of petroleum productsand 1,000 MW of power is one of the options now being considered. A number of new and expanding major resource projects are being established inSouth Australia, with a consequent need for reliable energy supplies. South Australian Government presentation Altona presented the options for developing the Arckaringa coal deposits andmeeting growing energy demands to the South Australian Minister for MineralResources Development and senior Government officials in Adelaide, SouthAustralia. The three explorationlicences, EL3360, EL3361, and EL3362 ("the Licences"), cover a combined area ofapproximately 2,500 square kilometres in the northern portion of the PermianArckaringa Basin in South Australia. The Licences include three coal deposits,known as the Westfield Deposit (EL3360), the Wintinna Deposit (EL3361), and theMurloocoppie Deposit (EL3362), are located in close proximity to the Adelaide toDarwin railroad, facilitating improved economic potential for despatch of coalto coastal based industries and export ports.
