Altona Resources PLC27 March 2006 27th March 2006 Altona Resources Plc ("Altona" or "the Company") Appointment of CEO Altona Resources plc (AIM: ANR) announces the appointment of Mr Stephen Lay asthe Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Initially, he will not be appointedas a director of the Company and will report to the current Board of Directors.The Company intends to appoint Mr Lay to the Board in the future, in theposition of Managing Director, upon further positive progression and growth inthe operations of the Company. Mr Lay is a mining engineer with 30 years international experience in the miningindustry. He brings to the Company experience in managing the development oflarge resource projects from evaluation through the feasibility stages toproduction. Most recently, Mr Lay was the Project Director for the Nezhdaninskoye Gold Mine,reputedly the second largest undeveloped gold deposit in Russia. He has alsobeen an Executive of Australian Stock Exchange listed Bolnisi Gold NL, managinggold mining and exploration joint venture operations in the former Sovietrepublic of Georgia. At the time of his departure the gold operation was one ofGeorgia's largest exporters. He has also been a mining consultant to RonaldWinston, principal of Harry Winston Inc. Mr Lay is aged 50 and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the CamborneSchool of Mines, is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute ofMaterials, Minerals and Mining. "Stephen Lay brings to Altona a highly successful track record of hands-onmining and project development experience to drive the development of theArckaringa Coal Project.
