("Advent" or the "Company")
2009 Business Plan and Capital requirements of Advent Syndicate 780 approved by Lloyd's
Following the major fluctuation in US Dollar exchange rate, Advent has completed its review of the 2009Β Plans of Syndicate 780Β and has received approval from Lloyd's for the revisedΒ arrangements.
Β
The plan will be based upon a projected gross premium income net of brokerage of Β£145.0 million (at US$1.50) compared to the original Business Plan target of Β£124.8 million (at US$1.99 β Lloydβs PIM rate).
As part of the review, Advent Syndicate 780 has entered into a quota share arrangement with anΒ AM BestΒ A ratedΒ reinsurance subsidiary of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited in respect of 40% of the property reinsurance lines of business for the 2009 underwriting year of account.Β Β The property reinsurance lines represent 60% of the planned gross premiumΒ ofΒ Syndicate 780.Β TheΒ quota shareΒ is subject toΒ an overrider feeΒ charged as a percentage of the premium cededΒ andΒ aΒ profit commission, both of which are at normal commercial terms.Β Β As the reinsurance programme for Advent Syndicate 780Β also acts forΒ the benefit of the quota share, it will alsoΒ bear its share ofΒ reinsurance programmeΒ cost.
The approved plan and quota share arrangements will maintain Advent's continued market presence in its core property reinsurance and insurance classes.Β Β The quota share will offer significant economic benefit throughΒ the fee revenue on premium income, the reduction in net reinsurance expense and the opportunity to earn profit commission on the result of the ceded business.
Details of the original plan, the gross premium prior to the quota share and the gross premium net of the quota share are set out below.Β All figures are net of brokerage and before overrider or profit commission.
