I’ve been catching up on Joshua’s videos including one about the new CEO of Glanbia, and Joshua’s thoughts on Glanbia buying into MyProtein and spinning off the Glanbia Performance Nutrition division and MyP, to IPO in the US.

I don’t know how knowledgeable he is…or if it’s just wishful thinking, but if Glanbia Performance Nutrition is the Worlds number 1 sports nutrition company and THG is the worlds number 1 online sports nutrition brand, a sale may be difficult due to scale, meaning a partnership might be the best way forward….if the 2 parties are even interested….

Again, I’m not convinced about Apollo connections, especially as Buffin wasn’t at H&B very long it seems. There are likely prior relationships between an ex-Director of THG and the current chair of H&B stemming back to walgreens Boots Alliance…

We wondered at the time why Dominic Murphy stepped down so abruptly…

H&B is now hugely ambiguous, recruiting an ace product team and it feels like Ingenuity will provide the key to unlocking new markets relatively quickly for H&B.

Just my view.

I’m not convinced on Apollo, if we’re taking “partnerships”, but LetterOne, the owners of H&B might have an interest….

I’m interested in why Glanbia is up 10% today, on no news it seems….

Depending on where you look, the suggestion is that THG has over 9000 colleagues, so I think we should probably put 160 job losses into context…..

I, like everyone else, don’t like to see job losses and the destruction it causes to families etc. However, at least some of us on this board, are invested in a company who exist to make/market/sell products more efficiently than others. Ultimately, the business will improve, the more automated it becomes. If that doesn’t sit well, I would suggest other investments may be more appropriate.

There’s a lot of negativity again on this board and if you take a few steps back from it, it’s easier to see the possible agendas of others.

This is positive in my eyes.

I feel the article implies that the shift from smaller to larger clients and their move from one site to another, is at least partly responsible for job displacement. As will be the technology capex spent last year.

The other comment I would make is that during Covid (and the period after), businesses that were fully functioning (like Ingenuity) over resourced, to ensure they had staff when others went off sick. So at least a proportion of job losses may be to do with normalising the size of the workforce. It’s happening all over the place. It’s just not in the news.

This board is a waste of time at the moment as there is too much anger, resentment and rudeness.

I’m still in, holding tight through thick and thin, even when still firmly in the red…and don’t care what others say, as I know I will eventually make money here, I just need patience, which I have.

Good luck everyone. See some of you when there’s something news worthy to discuss; hopefully when those doing their best to talk this down, are long gone.

Well if an activist investor can be bought off that cheaply, everyone would be doing it…..so in my eyes, not “bloody obvious”…..but what do I know….

Do any of the LTH think that the Kelso response was a bit subdued? The change of tone, from challenging to relatively soft, suggests to me that they are now accepting the current situation. Perhaps John/Matt have discussed the optionality plans for the future. As McDonald is involved with both men, it could be part of the reason he’s still standing.

As always, I could be wrong….

I feel the H&B deal will be a good one. H&B are reinventing themselves and took on a team of ex-M&S heavyweights to help them do it. We are now starting to see the effects. I feel like their global growth plans will develop and may be a reason to renegotiate supply to include further afield, in a couple of years time, using Ingenuities global reach.

I recon it will land tomorrow because as fate would have it, I’m in exactly the same hotel I was in when I woke up to the last update….

I’m hoping it is too to be honest, as the US markets are closed tomorrow (Martin Luther King day), so at least there will be no negative news from across the pond for doomsayers to use.

“During 2024, the Kelso team expects to expand its business by earning revenue from investor relations ('IR') consulting by advising listed companies on maximising shareholder value. Over time, we expect this to develop into a more significant net revenue stream.”

Clearly not, or he wouldn’t have closed his short. Maybe his “source” wasn’t in the inner circle….

I don’t buy that there’s been a leak today. Even the person on the other board, who would give Matt a run for his money when it comes to Messiah status (in their own head at least), who has previously claimed he has a “source”, closed his short today. It wasn’t just us who suffered.

I have no idea what news next week will bring, but I am sure we’ll have a quieter board in a couple of weeks time. Looking forward to it.

I’m still championing Moulding. I’m just not getting involved in speculation, as I perceive my investment to be longer term than next week/month/year. That’s not saying I’m not feeling the pain too, I just feel like there’s a lot of traders around and volume is pretty low, so I’m trying to stay rational.
