I wonder how much vaccine roll-out is costing tax payers?
Gov should concentrate their efforts on trying to eradicate the virus with accurate testing, rather than trying to persuade everyone that vaccines (short-lived and with potential side effects) is the only way out.
The link to Guardian article in the above post states 'England’s Covid unlocking is threat to world, say 1,200 scientists......International experts say ‘unethical experiment’ could allow vaccine-resistant variants to develop'
I wonder what the 1200 scientists would think of our gov's fast track system for their friends, the Innova story, etc, etc.
If AVCT had been put on the government's Fast Track system, I expect his test would have been out within 1 year. It appears he was put on the gov's Slow Track system which delayed him so much he had to go to Spain to complete the validation.
Probably during his meeting with BoJo last September he was encouraged to go down the PD testing route in preparation for being the sovereign test. Little did he know that would delay his progress (overseen by people with other interests imo).
Anyway, I am more confident in this company now than I was when the price was 2.80. His technology has been proven, and he has produced one of the world's best covid tests. They are now in the process of developing various other non-covid tests which I expect will be some of the best in the world. (And this is just the diagnostics side of the business).
I agree. I think for the uk gov it's a case of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.
Unfortunately companies such as Avacta were unknowingly the enemy.
But Al has no learned a lesson and hopefully will never trust them again.
Very good idea.
Perhaps we need to approach tough and influential business owners whose businesses are really suffering as a result of lock downs. Possibly they would have more influence on gov.
The media make it sound if though vaccines are the only way out, but a properly working test and trace system - with an accurate test - could virtually eradicate the virus and avoid any future lock downs. (I suspect the vaccine-producing companies would not want this).
Possibly the media are worth approaching but it seems that they are quite reluctant to discuss anything other than vaccines for some reason. Surely they must be aware of accurate LFTs.
PapaZulu - I agree that the gov (or more likely gov advisors) do not want a 100% accurate test. But I think the reason for this is because an accurate test would lead to such great control of the virus that people would not accept the vaccination. Pharma/biotech make a lot of money out of vaccines.
So I imagine that countries who are not involved in the development of vaccines would be more interested in Avacta's test.
That's my opinion anyway.
I agree we can't stay locked up forever, but deliberately encouraging people to use tests which are known to be inaccurate is not acceptable, especially when the US are advised to throw them in the bin.
I expect AS believed that if he created one of the world's best LFTs - if not the best - during a deadly pandemic that the uk gov would want to buy it.
And I expect that when he heard BJ constantly saying 'protect the NHS, save lives' that he meant it.
Little did he know (or we know).
AVCT announced the results of their LFT on 20th April. If the UK gov were interested they would have used their fast track system.
