Chris Heminway, Exec-Chair at Time To ACT, explains why now is the right time for the Group to IPO. Watch the video here.
Mrs KOB Can you ask whether their NHS trust has been given shares in any companies who create/sell LFTs and whether that would influence which LFTs they buy?
I think I remember reading an RNS from a company (not Avacta) who had given some NHS Trusts shares in their company.
Yes, this was discussed on this board the other week and it is advertised here
https://bioservuk.com/rapid-tests/
3rd test down (called Healgen - but it is Orient Gene).
On this website it states that it should be used after symptoms appear, and it only gives its sensitivity RELATIVE to its other nasopharyngeal test.
Overall, Avacta's test was more sensitive (100%) and, most importantly, 100% sensitive when the individual is asymptomatic.
I found the same Orient Gene test advertised on a different website, but with better sensitivities advertised - so you can't be sure which sensitivity is the correct one.
As you say, you could eradicate it in the UK by testing but you would also need to continue to test anyone who has been abroad.
Everyone always talks about spending billions on testing, but how much do vaccines cost? I expect many more billions than testing, and especially as they intend to roll it out yearly to deal with all the variants.
Another advantage of testing is that it is virtually risk free - unlike vaccines.
I imagine that if he has misled us, then it's only because UK gov have misled him.
I expect he has learned a lesson not to trust UK Gov and their advisors.
I'm hoping that there are other governments who really do want the best test to help save lives
They need to collect the results of the vaccine trials.
We've been kept under tight restrictions while younger and younger people get their jab (so they can go on holiday). Now they need to expose us fully to the delta variant to see whether the vaccine works.
If it does then they can market it further across the world.
If it doesn't then they can tweek it ready for the end of summer roll out of further jabs.
imo
The saliva pen sounds quite good until you read the limitations section (on the link you gave).
Avacta were developing a saliva test but I think Porton Down didn't want it , and Sir John Bell was on the news saying that saliva could not be used as it is not accurate if you have been eating beforehand. I think that is right?
Yes, I suspect it is the same test. But to get their sensitivity of 94% it has to be used for individuals who already have symptoms.
And the whole point of mass testing is to be able to identify individuals who are asymptomatic but still infectious.
I wrote in my earlier post above that the Orient Gene test was a nasopharyngeal (brain poke) test (Orient Gene is 96.72% sensitive and Avacta's is 100% sensitive). Advertised here https://bioservuk.com/rapid-tests/
I have just noticed that there is a second Orient Gene test (Healgen) which is a nasal swab only. Perhaps this is the one they are testing in schools?
In the instructions for this nasal test it says this is to be used within the first 10 days of symptom onset. (Unlike Avacta's which is able to detect virus in asymptomatic).
Also, when testing the sensitivity for this, they only gave the sensitivity RELATIVE to their other nasopharyngeal test.
The RELATiVE sensitivity for the nasal swab is given as 97.25% (which is relative to the 96.72% sensitivity for the original nasopharyngeal swab test). Which means the actual sensitivity of the nasal swab is 94%.
So Avacta's nasal swab test in ASYMPTOMATIC individuals is 100%,
Orient Gene's nasal test in SYMPTOMATIC individuals is 94% (if I have calculated correctly)
The Orient Gene test is advertised here, where Avacta's is also advertised
https://bioservuk.com/rapid-tests/
However, it's a nasopharyngeal test (brain poke) and not as sensitive as Avacta's.
But as we know, government doesn't appear interested in using the best test.
The Ct values are there under the specifications tab for each product. I've compared and Avacta's is the best (although the saliva ones don't give Ct values). Some Ct values are ok but for nasopharyngeal swabs only.
Hopefully anyone buying will understand the Ct values.
I also wondered whether it was staged. He may have been given various options for his departure
- sacked due to corruption leading to deaths
- sacked due to being useless leading to deaths
- resign due to having an affair and breaking covid rules
Obviously the last option is best.
Awhatsup - I would not describe them as 'sleepy government'. It appears they are hyper alert when getting corrupt deals for friends and family.
We all thought they would be trying to save lives and fast track the best tests and treatments but now it seems they had a different agenda.
I have my hopes pinned on other countries.
....And the cooperation of the UK gov and its advisors.
If testing were given the publicity that vaccines have had over the past 6 months, with numbers of people tested being reported on the news each day, and with testing centres set-up in the same way that vaccinations have been, I doubt we would be seeing the infection rate we are seeing today.
