The UK national grid cannot support EV charging. The national grid and local grid will need to be updated taking between 10 and 30 years at a cost of £30 billion. The only short term solution is off grid charging using hydrogen or diesel to generate electricity. Several parts of the UK already suffer blackouts due to shortage of power stations to generate electricity. This scenario is repeated in many countries around the world. The big question is what source of energy will third world countries choose in the future as they become developed economies.
