Who ever writes these article are getting paid and one or the other doesn't understand business and obviously has an agenda. Most likely to keep dumping shares at a higher price. While they still have a buyer BP!
There is a reason why US oil companies market cap is 3 x of similar UK as mentioned is because they are 3 times bigger. BP returns 3.5 percent in dividends and so does the companies mentioned. So if BP market cap went up x 3 and Share price went to say £12 the dividend yield would go down to 1 percent and vice verser.
Anyway as the oil prices reach the "Goldie locks zone" of $60 the UK can avoid a major recession, interest rates can top out about 6 Percent instead of 10 percent and the the UK can "Build and they will come"
In my option BP have done the right thing investing in green energy even if it has come at a cost to profit and share holders expense. But this will become a good long term investment.
