It’s two years years since John MacSween died. In his time he was an ardent holder and contributor. What I wonder he would say now

Yaki Yakoubov who built up a huge holding presumably still does. Someone is quietly tucking shares away. Those vast coal reserves must still have some value.

It is decidedly eerie. No one posting a message and just a few desultory sales going through for a pittance. Are all the LTHs gone. Is there anybody there?

Oh dearie me! Wimbo. You and I have been around for many years as LTHs. Mylene Klass will be disappointed that she has not yet been on your arm to the £1 party. It all seemed so full of promise. One encouraging note is that Yaki invested big time and I presume is still a big holder.
It would be good to meet one day.

One presumes that Yaki still has his enormous holding. He clearly sees a future for the company. There is I suppose the possibility that he could seek to take the company privately and pay off existing shareholders. The coal deposits are still there. They still have value. And of course we could be active on AIM once more. Is Wimbledon still with us or was that 10m sale his?

We used to hear about Messrs Murray, Taylor and Bromley, three gents who had large enough holdings to require declaration. Are their holdings still as hig, bigger or smaller? It would be reassuring to know if they are still holding on, when many of our own merry band have reduced or even cut and run

It is always reassuring to see Wimbo on board, and Yaki clearly has great expectations.
All was going to plan until Magafuli decided that hydropower was the answer and that the government itself should build and own the Stiegler Dam project. That effectively knocked the raison d’être of Kibo. It soldiered on nonetheless with projects in Botswana, Mozambique etc, but to little avail. The dam was due to be generating power by June 2022 and producing 2119 megawatts, nearly twice the current demand. The recent announcement of a renewed MOU with TANESCO makes one wonder whether there are problems for them to consider coal after all.

For a few years now I have been reading the posts on this site daily though not as avidly as I once did. It was therefore good to see some old friends posting. Well Sterling is substantially now more hard hit than when you posted, and the sp has regained some of its recent decline which does support the notion that the company’s global stretch provides some underlying strength. If Kwarteng’s strategy proves right then the company is well placed to make the most of the economic growth he forecasts, and if he has made a big mistake then the company is fully able to cope.
