Excess death in UK covered in this week's "More or Less" programme BBC Radio 4. Item is at 9 mins, 4 seconds in.

TLDR: Excess deaths caused by disruption to NHS and normal, routine public health interventions due to Covid pressures. (Lots of preventable heart attacks)
Hi, I remember the poster you are talking about. The name escapes me at the moment but it may return. He sometimes mentioned a particular Aberdeen pub where oil gossip could be picked up.
Of course A Double UK also spent time in Aberdeen, but that was a long time ago...it wasn't Biffadog was it?
Yeah,
You (and I) have been here a long time Bobton. Remember the heady days of sp in the 40's?
I sometimes wonder about people like SippNoob who had IIRC over a million of these puppies. Myself, I kept a few for nostalgia after all the various disappointments.
All true Adouble,
I ended up retaining 4,000 shares. Just to see what happens.
Jeez Adoubleuk! You're still here? Nice to see your handle.
I only looked in because my 'phone told me HUR was up 13.68% today...great. (I haven't checked for ages, lost interest). Then I saw the price. A genuine tuppeny-ha'penny share now. Bollards! My 5-odd pence average looking feeble. Time to fully exit for me. I should recover enough cash to buy some steak, whisky and bubbly fizz for Christmas holiday.
Look after yourself.
Farewell Adoubluk,
It's been a rollercoaster.
I guess I fell in love with this share; a rookie mistake. It was good story while it lasted.
I've enjoyed the 'Dead vids and the poker stories. The trip has been worth the few hundred quid I've lost. I feel lucky to have escaped from worse damage.
Look after yourself. I hope your walk to the beach is many, many years away.
Best wishes to all the long-termers on here; I've enjoyed your posts and insights. Look after your health, families & friends, nothing else matters much.
AduK: "Put two and two together.... It won't need a 'takeover'. Just starve Hurricane out of existance first, then quietly park Rona Ridge on the shelf for re-emergence when the time comes...."
Yeah, this is something that worried me way back when PI's talked about the "buyers strike". You see it in academia as well. Someone comes up with a new theory, method or discovery and instead of being lauded by their peers, who should be excited about new developments and interested to get involved, they are shut out, shut down and ostracised by the established figures in the game.
We don't really encourage original thinking or independent ventures . If it doesn't have the imprimatur of the "Big Boys" it's always going to be a sair fecht. My thoughts go out to Trice. He at least can hold his head up knowing he has maintained his integrity, purpose and moral compass.
Sorry to see you go Great Auk. Your posts were one of my main reasons for looking in (even if you blethered a bit at times).
I only hold a piddling "souvenir" amount of HUR shares myself having been hurt too many times on this rollercoaster.
I'm not going to bother checking the SP or chat from now on. If it falls to zero, I've lost the price of nice meal out for 4 and if there's a take over above 11p, I'll buy something nice for my missus.
Look after yourself. Slow down in that old Range Rover and keep on rockin' in the free world.
Wow!!
Haven’t been on here for a while.
When did the coach-load of gremlins arrive?
Hopefully the rash of bottom feeders indicates we are indeed at the bottom.
SG 2, there will be an audio only version of the presentation on the HUR web site "shortly":

Yesterday and today SLA announced purchases of their own shares. They say in today's RNS that their intention is to cancel these shares. Am I right in thinking that this means there will now be (slightly) less SLA shares in circulation, effectively concentrating the value of each share?
I'm just confused as to why this action should see a drop in the SP today, although it may just be the generally depressing sentiment today re: price of oil etc.
I'm considering buying some of these shares for a long term hold ( 10+ years) as a supplement to my meagre pension expectations.
Are you a pensioner sirrufus? : "Total disregard for retired shareholders who are dependant on dividends for their income. Still don't worry, the Government will still bung 80% of salary to the emploed and self employed!!"
I am a self employed sole trader. My income stopped dead 3 weeks ago. Not a penny since. I still have outgoings; rent, insurance, energy bills, food for the kids etc. The government "bung" you refer to has been one single email from HMRC saying that they will open a scheme to applications in June. Knowing HMRC, You can bet that this "scheme" will not be a simple one to apply for.
If your pension had stopped dead a month ago, and you were told you "might" get 80% of it again, starting in two months, would you be feeling safe ?
If you are a pensioner, count yourself very, very lucky that you have an income that is reliable and secure. Millions of us self employed are facing ruin and poverty into our old age.
"Yes It is going ahead as a webcast, this has been confirmed to me by Ben Leigh at Hurricane."
Thanks you, JAdam
Is it going ahead? When?, Where? How?
I've just emailed HURricomms to ask the above. I can't see any mention of it on the Huricane web site, but that's not unusual. Hiding their flare under a bushel seems to be a HUR trait.
You could try Google Finance and have one tab open on Google and another on your share dealing platform. You can set a watchlist of your "favourites"

As flagged up earlier by D.UK. and others. Any one knowledgeable got a theory about this yet? :
" As production continues the wells are experiencing increasing pressure support from the reservoir"
There must be a pressure gradient, or potential difference in pressure between two (increasingly?) connected "vessels" for this to happen yes? ( My Higher Grade Physics runs out at this point)
In my view Dr T's qualities of integrity, honesty, calmness and prudence shine from this RNS. This is a man, and a company, that does what it says it will do, a rare commodity these days and rarer still on AIM. Looks like HUR will weather this storm.
I'm a recent holder here (called the bottom at 316p, arris that I am . No one seems to comment much on the slew of RNS's which AV. issues. Can someone tell me; are these holders selling or buying?
WTF don't they just put a box on the threshold form that simply says; "Increase in Holding" or "Decrease in Holding"
I'm trying to decipher what is going on. Should I be looking it these sections?
"Resulting situation on the date on which threshold was crossed or reached
0.00%
0.00%
190,008,703
Position of previous notification (if applicable)
4.83%
4.83%"
So, this holder has gone from holing 4.83% of the company shares to zero? Right?
Excuse my ignorance.
ADuK: "But where've you been this while? Welcome back."
Hello Duk ( as they say in Stoke!),
Took some time off from shares and chat. Was too stressful and I realised that I did not understand the market, so shouldn't put my money there. I've been trying to learn about BB conversations and how they relate to the real world movement of SP's and companies' values (if at all!), before entering share ownership again. I didn't make any money ( from HUR) but neither did I lose much, so feeling grateful.
Last I remember Sipp had bought nearly 2m @ 43p ish. Was curious as to how he was fairing. ( although I recall his historical average was well below current price, so likely still smiling)
